Having lost a stone and a half on slimming world I've decided to give calorie counting a go.
On slimming world fruit and veg was free meaning you could eat them in unlimited quantities and I was wondering if I should now start counting the calories in fruit and veg.
Any advice would be great xxxxx

First off, congratulations on losing a stone and half, that's fantastic!
And to your query, you need to count all calories you eat, even those in fruit and vegetables. They may not have as many as other things, but they are still all calories and so do count towards your total.
Hiya, well done for losing a stone and a half! 👍😊 Counting cals in fruit and veg is annoying, but i guess fruit can have a fair amount cals. Most Veg generally doesnt though so even though its best to count it you can obv still get alot of veg for 50 cals, especially 'above ground' veg.
Definitely count them, my weight has snuck up on a mainly veggie diet, I can cook a gorgeous veg meal and think - well it's only veg, I'll have seconds ...., my downfall
Well today was interesting talking about cheese. I don't really like cheese (I'm actually a bit fussy!) but I made carbonara pasta with haloumi. Fried in a teaspoon of olive oil, but I realised for 2 I usually shove a whole packet in. This time I weighed everything, even the 10g of Parmesan and just, just came under my calories allowed. I think I overcompensate because of the lack of Cals in veg, so stack up on everything else.
I've divised a full weeks meal/snack plan which will be 1400 cals a day. I did my bmi check on this website and i need at least 1400 to lose weight.
It will be odd counting calories in fruit and veg but needs must.
Xxx
My opinion is:
count all your calories in fruit, as this can add up to quite a lot if you aren't mindful of how much you are eating.
Re veg, certainly potatoes, sweet potatoes, parsnips, peas, all the starchier veg should be carefully counted. However, a lot of veg are so low in calories, and a normal portion size is relatively modest, that you could dispense with weighing and measuring, and just allow a notional 50 cals or so a day for them. Veg like - all the leafy veg, lettuce, broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower etc. mushrooms, aubergines, courgettes, cucumber, peppers, beansrouts, even carrots I think you can eat freely.
The noly proviso to this is that you are either eating them row or boiling them. If you bake or fry with fat, then you need to count them.
