I suspect it will change the way you eat a lot, cdflady25. Type 2 diabetes and obesity are the result of metabolic syndrome, which is caused by over consumption of carbohydrates, especially sugar.
Don't worry, it's the way many of us choose to eat, even if we do not have diabetes. It's not at all difficult, or unsustainable. Here are a few things for you to look at to prepare you and it's never too late to start implementing the change, regardless of what the blood tests say.

This is the first in a series of 7 videos, all well worth watching youtu.be/h0zD1gj0pXk
Don't feel overwhelmed, just take your time going through them.
Hi Cdflady25 and welcome I am type 2 diabetic I came here in May
26 stone 6lb and injections three times a day. I have loads of other health problems too.
I’m following the LCHF (low carb high fat) plan and yesterday I hit my
3 stone 1lb loss I’m never hungry I love my food.
Great support on here🌻
I have a needle phobia so that will be difficult for me
Maybe this is your time to change. Good look in your weight loss journey 🌻
Thank you
I think it will be very unlikely that you will be prescribed insulin immediately on diagnosis. You can use that phobia to drive your resolve!
(I also have a needle phobia, I am not sure I could handle daily injections 😱)
Hi you've come to a great place to get support and it's not too late! I started here in June 2018 weighing 21stone 2lb and have now lost 8 stone, still want to lose another stone to get into healthy BMI range (being the same height as you) and this morning ran 5.5kms oh and I'm 62.

I hope this gives you some encouragement, whether it turns out you are diabetic or not it's still worth losing weight. I have so much more energy, although I was quite active before, my knees now love me and don't complain when I go upstairs.
I have cut out refined carbs and not been hungry so a totally sustainable life change. I think I've had less than 50 slices of bread in those 2 years, very few cakes/pastry and very little pasta or rice otherwise I've eaten pretty normally just upping my fats, I'd have never have stuck to something where I couldn't eat cheese. The support here has been invaluable.
I wish you all the best and hope to see you joining in around the boards
When I am in the UK I drive everywhere but I go to USA for two weeks and I lose 3stone dont know how
Of course it's scary, but about 1/3 of adults in the UK have diabetes or pre-diabetes, so you will not be alone. And as Hidden proves, it can be reversed. Click on her name, and have a look at her recent posts. She's sharing the food she is eating, and it is joyous.
I am voluntarily eating a similar diet. It was a little difficult changing, but I love it - and I know it's the only way I can keep healthy.
Thank youx🌻
