Hi 2162 here. This July was warned I am pre-diabetic. No help offered just handed a leaflet with a pie-chart showing varying portion sizes of different food groups. Have gained weight over a period of 20 years since ending up in a wheelchair following meninigitus. Have made it out of my chair mostly, still needing sticks. before this I was slightly underweight.

Do you count your carbs for every meal and snack? Has your doctor talked about carb counting?
Good morning 21262, sorry to hear you weren't given more support. I do find cutting my portions down has helped, increasing vegetables and berries in my diet. Positives you have motivation to change to avoid diabetes. Wishing you lots of success .

Hi 2162. Welcome to the forum. you will find that everyone is supportive on here and keeps us going when we feel lost and lacking in will power. Like you, I was given no information about being pre-diabetic either and it was only through my own efforts that I found the information I needed and worked out the best plan for me. As a starter i would suggest you try reading around the NHS 12 week plan for good advice on portion sizes and finding the calorie count that is right for you.. I managed to have my diagnosis reversed and am sure that it is within your reach too... keep coming on here... and most of all.. good luck in finding the information you need.
Hi Guys
You all sound a friendly bunch. Looking forward to speaking to you again. Thank you for getting back to me.
