Hello I’ve tried many diets . 50 is fast approaching and I need to improve my health. I’ve been thinking of handing over my hard earned cash over to a slimming club again but the clubs are full of people who have lost the weight and put it on again ( that’s me 👋) I want to get off the ‘ I’m on a diet ‘ loop because I am fed up with it. I want to follow a healthy diet , lose weight , get fitter. I’d love to do a weigh in Monday if possible . Wish me luck
Good morning : Hello I’ve tried many... - Weight Loss Support
Good morning
Hi and welcome, Sazza47
You're quite right, diets don't work and why fork out a fortune to a business that makes a fortune out of keeping people fat? Eating real food is the way to go healthunlocked.com/api/redi...
All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.
If you haven't already taken it, here's a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
Wishing you all the best
Hello Sazza47, I've lost weight on commercial diet plans in the past. Didn't/couldn't keep it off for long. Some people marvel at the business model of commercial diet plans, wondering how they get away with it.
Anyway, glad you've found us. We're a friendly bunch. Good luck with your weight loss goals.
Good luck. I am still a member of Slimming World and that is a supportive environment, but I had the yo-yo dieting problem you describe. Glad that I have found this forum because there is more support and also a lot of sound information and guidance. I started LCHF a month ago, haven't had an episode of binge eating for that time, which was my main problem. I would advise you to have a good read around this forum before you decide to join a slimming club. Good luck again.
Thirty odd years ago, I was paying for one to one counselling sessions with a lady who advocated dropping refined carbohydrates from my diet to get off the binge cycle. I couldn't quite get to grips with it because I wanted to lose weight.
However, stabilizing blood sugar levels so as not to have any 'crashes' which would follow the inevitable binge. Thus creating the need for another binge was really what it was about.
The diet sheet denied the eating of sugar and carbohydrate in all forms. No bread, flour, potatoes, rice etc etc. Even pointing out fructose etc was sugar. No ketchup, chutney or pickles either.
Anyhoo…..it seems to me that all diets discourage the eating of sweets, chocolate, crisps etc.
The group support and sense of accountability is useful in weight loss classes. Most people who are trying to lose weight, and probably not for the first time (no offence intended), know what they need to do to lose weight safely and effectively.
Good luck hun ! Would you like to join us on the Daily Diary and post your food plan for tomorrow? Here's the link, I hope to see you there! x
