I am new to this and just joined today. I am half way through the NHS diet plan and am feeling strong. I have noticed that sometimes I will have a tiny bite of some thing and not record because it seems insignificant. Any pointers on helping with snacking and self-control? I would really love to be able to reign in my snacking habits and I think it is essential for me looking forward.

BellaBoersm I’m probably not much of a help... snacks are my nemesis too! I struggle to have a small amount and probably better to avoid snacking all together.
I try to replace the snack with a nice drink- tonight I have sparkling water with ice and mint and I might have a cup of tea.
Otherwise I have dark chocolate (90% Godiva) with a handful of nuts.
I am going to try doing something in the evenings when I am most likely to snack- bike ride, walk or finding a new hobby to distract myself.
Hello and a very warm welcome to the Weight Loss Forum BellaBoersm
I’m of the opinion that snacks are best avoided, I struggle to have a small taste as it makes me want more . . . If your meals are adequate then snacks are unnecessary and more often than not, are a habit, that can be broken with practice 😊

Hi, if snacking sneaks up on me, I start myself a no snacking thread, once you've done day 1, you won't want to spoil day 2 . Would you like to join our weigh in? Here's the link, I hope to see you there!! x
I am a fellow snacker - and though I could try to stop a habit of many years, have decided to include it in my healthier eating plan instead.. (there's only so many things I can give up in life 😉)..
I include what I'm going to have for my snack (as I'm following a calorie counting based diet I count it). I post on the daily diary as I'm more likely to do it the more people I tell 😊
Since starting healthier eating and posting on the daily diary my snacking has got healthier and reduced. We've got rid of the unhealthy snacks in the house so not tempted.. I also use distraction - and drinking water can help sometimes..
If you search for healthy snacks plenty of ideas come up. I like handfuls of sunflower, pumpkin seeds and raisans: healthier popcorn and others mention celery sticks with healthy dips.. I've also started weighing out my snacks (something I would've never dreamed of doing before)..
Good luck with however you want to approach this 😊👍
Not having the snack around helps. Just one taste and you get hooked!
I was saying to someone on here the other day, to try cleaning your teeth instead, puts you right off snacking! Also, when you get that feeling coming on, think to yourself, I am not going to give in to this desire, and that is going to help me to shift the weight I want to lose. Like an affirmation. Then do something really nice for yourself instead that doesn't involve food.
