After doing well initially, I have fallen into bad habits again. I am fine eating healthily during the day but in the evening on weekdays and weekends I can't seem to be good at all. Chocolate, crisps etc. Please tell me your strategies for not snacking on rubbish. Or just not snacking at all!

I have the same problem and I hate it. I feel like it's my weight monster never leaving my side. If I snack it's kind of okay but if I start to graze, I want to run away. What I should do: plan for an evening snack: 10 grapes frozen; apple baked with cinnamon and nutmeg; 2 pieces of dried fruit; a carrot. Putting everything away and limit the snacks in the grocery cupboard. Buy stuff that hubby and kids enjoy and I don't like.
Well, that is what works for me but I have to keep it up.
Personally the only way to deal with it, is to treat each day equally, not se the weekends or evenings to change habits, it won't comfort you food, nor will it ever, it will give you a short term fix tho.
Distract yourself from food, and be pre occupied, and plan, that is the only way I get through stuff, avoid being in situations where the focus is on alway going out and have a plan too.
Thank you I'm going to keep your post in mind for the following week. In South Africa we have a very long weekend (Thursday till Monday) and it seems like the whole family is coming. The upside is I am making the food, snacks and dessert.
I find distraction helps me . I have a hula hoop and if I want snacks at a time when I am not really hungry I do 5 min hulla hoop then see if I still want that snack. Often I don't 😀
I occassionally have this problem (crisps are my weakness!) I make sure I don't have them in my house- even if I have planned for it in my weekly eating plan. If its in the house and the munchies occur then thats it the crisps are gone irrespective if its the day I planned to have them- I have to buy them on the day. I drink more water -have a couple of glasses in the hour- some people clean their teeth or drink herbal tea since the after taste affects any food eaten afterwards- less palatable.I also distract myself- read, do housework or go out for a work- some people go to the gym in the evening so they don't have the opportunity to graze. I have spent some evenings going back and forth to kitchen cupboards, opening them then walking away without the nibble since I give myself a strict talking to!
I went "cold turkey" and don't eat after 7pm unless we are away. And only fruit in between meals. It takes only a few days and the new habit becomes ingrained and the nibbling gets easier to resist 😊
Hi. Gemini76 I am the same as you as soon as I have eaten my evening meal I get the urge to eat something sweet.
I have taken to doing something to take my mind off it. I am quite crafty so do something in that way. At the moment I am making myself a blouse. I made my granddaughters rabbits for Easter. I am also trying to teach myself to draw horses. I have also taken to reading and for anyone who knows me that's a rare thing. Basically I will do anything that will take my mind off heading for the kitchen.
But I know it's a real struggle. I think whilst I eat for comfort I also eat for something to do when I'm bored.
I've also stopped myself going down the sweet Isle in the supermarket as this would be too much of a temptation.
