Buddha bowl salad

Here’s a pic of one of my Buddha bowl salads, whose name is derived , I believe, from the rounded tummy shape of the heap of food!

I try and place my veg in alternate colour groups with the protein in the middle eg hummus.

On top I scatter some toasted seeds and drizzle olive oil & lemon juice.

Looks good. You've reminded me I was going to make hummus. Off to soak some dried chickpeas .....

Found it!!Looks delicious & fresh!

I did have a quick Google/Wikipedia. The name comes from Buddha himself who carried a bowl around with him so that incredibly poor people could donate morsels of food.

Right I'm going to post mine.👍

You made me look it up, too.

Wikipedia lists both explanations plus a third: the balance of the bowl reflects the balance of the Buddha.

And they also say, and this blows my mind 🤯, that the round bellied laughing Buddha is Budai, a different monk and not Siddhattha.

How did I not know this???
