Very well done Sweetlips 😊👏🎉. Are you going to start joining in with forum activities? Moreless gave you lots of helpful information last week which I hope you’ve had time to read and digest. As she said to you then, nothing beats joining in, reading posts and replying to others. Our Group Weigh-in and the Daily Diary are probably the best places to start

Best wishes in your weight loss journey

Indigo 😊

I am missing something, it seems. I have been on this Group for a while but didn't realise that there were 'diet' plans to follow, either counting calories or anything else. I use calorie counting myself and just allow myself between 800 and 1,100 calories a day, depending on how I feel on any particular day.

If I'm right, could someone point me in the right direction please? I need to find my way around it seems.

There are various Weigh Days too. I went the Tuesday Weigh Day this week, my first time 'advertising' my weight. For many years I just couldn't lose weight, because of my low thyroid diagnosis around 25 years ago.

At the end of April I found that a change in the brand of thyroxine that I take has meant that I am losing weight at last.

So that made me feel that I could join people who are actively trying to lose weight, hence my Tuesday weigh in.

So, how many weigh days are there each week and is each different weigh day connected with the particular diet that the members are using?

Good evening BrynGlas and excellent news about your thyroxine and weight loss 😊👍👏. I’m delighted to see that you joined the Tuesday Trimmers yesterday where you received several supportive responses

Regarding your not knowing where things are, when you first joined the forum you should have received a Welcome Message (in your inbox) that would have given you a link to our Pinned Posts and the Welcome Newbie post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... This post has lots of useful information to help you navigate the forum, as well as links to the NHS 12 week plan and then the NHS BMI checker here. If you haven’t already I suggest you look at this now, nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we... it will suggest a target calorie range for you. We recommend starting towards the higher end so you can reduce it easier as you lose weight. The MINIMUM calorie target is 1400, the amount you are eating is far too low and I am concerned that it will compromise your health ☹️

Please have a good read of this information but feel free to ask if you have any questions

Best wishes

Indigo

Hi Indigo. I was assuming that you were talking about an email that I would have had when I joined either HU in the first place, or any of the other Groups that I have been into since then. I couldn't -unsurprisingly - find any 'Newbie' emails.

My brain finally kicked in and I found the messages, lots of them too! Derrrr, 'Dork' I think the word for me.

Anyway I read the message.

I realised that I have been totally doing the wrong thing.

Have not been making private messages, told myself that I really will do whatever I have to do when I posted my next message to lock the post.

I typed out my first message today, before I hit the post button I pressed the Privacy button, expecting to be asked whether I wanted to post this message as private, but that didn't happen.

Instead up came a list of the H Unlocked Privacy rules.

You would never know that I have made myself 2, not 1 but 2 websites!

I haven't been able to find any diet plans yet, of any kind. I did find pinned posts, but no actual diet plans.

I have no clue to how to lock my posts to keep others safe.

If I have to choose a new user name for every Group I join, I haven't got a cat in hell's chance of remembering them all, I am sorry to say.

I can't possibly agree to make my minimum total calories for the day 1,400 calories either, I'm sorry.

That is more than I have eaten on a regular basis for many years and I have had at least 3 GP's tell me during that time that I have been eating too much, put too much food into my mouth daily.

I wish I could agree to that but I can't. I have been eating my way, with my own designated maximum calories for a day, between 800 and 1,100 calories, for a long time now.

I don't feel that I can just change that. I don't eat 3 meals a day either, it is usually 2 maximum meals a day.

I have been told that that was wrong too, by many people - and at least one was a GP - but I am only very rarely hungry in the morning. I don't know why, but that is just me.

So, I am very sorry, but I don't really think that I am going to be enhancing the Group in any way, I think I am a bit of a liability instead.

Many apologies.

"locking" your posts is the button "who can see this post?". It's locked if you click "only community members". Yeah, I found that confusing too.

Lots of us are skipping a meal, and generally not following the NHS diet. I think you will fit in fine here.

I hope you stay!

I think the poster will have been referring to the NHS 12 week plan. Anyone following that will find a link to this forum, though members follow a wide range of plans

Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum, Djemima :)

You'll find everything you need, including a Welcome message, in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... A good place to start is by joining a weekly weigh in team on the day of your choice, and using the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans.

I hope you'll become an active member and we'll see you out and about around the forum, reading, chatting and supporting others :)
