Weight loss help needed

I’ve been doing c25k for 2 weeks. Plus 3 yoga sessions a week! I’ve lost 4lbs that’s it! Plus healthy eating!

I can normally lose weight much quicker than this when I’m just dieting alone without exercising! To say I’m deflated is a understatement! I’ve now lost all motivation to exercise and just want to go on a binge eating weekend! Any advise appreciated!

4lbs is a sensible healthy amount in 2 weeks. You may have gained more muscle mass over two weeks which is healthy than fat mass. You probably look slimmer for all the exercise. I would stick to what you’re doing as it’s working.

Hi and welcome to this fantastic supportive forum

Have a look at this link which will give you loads of info on how and where to find things on here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

An admin will be along shortly to give you a proper welcome

It's best to lose weight slowly to keep it off also that fact that you are now exercising as well will mean that you are toning up and making more muscle which weighs more than fat, don't let that dishearten you instead remember to take your measurements as well and see the inches also go down

Wishing you all the best :)

Hello and welcome, nickylouise80 :)

As Mel31 says, 4lbs in two weeks is a good rate of loss. I hope you're enjoying C25k and your yoga as the best exercise is whatever you enjoy, for all the benefits it gives. It plays a very small part in weight loss.

It's worthwhile looking again at your healthy eating. Many of us have followed the low fat, calorie restriction advice for decades and seen our weight rising. There's a much clearer picture, now, that it's carbohydrates that do the damage, while healthy fats keep us fuller, more sated and less likely to go off the rails. Here are a couple of things to read

There is plenty of information and support around here: you'll get the best out of it if you are open-minded and come here regularly, joining in with chats and activities. A good starting point would be joining a weekly weigh in and using the Daily Diary. You will find these, our Welcome Newbies message and all other forum activities when you read through our Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

I hope you'll become an active member of the forum and we'll see you around.

PS the HU app doesn't give access to the whole of the forum so ditch it and search for the website address :)

Hi, nickylouise80 , welcome.

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.

Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

Google what 4lb of fat looks like ! I did it in a week I only lost 1lb because I was deflated and I felt better instantly!

A loss is a loss - just keep chipping away at it :)

If you weigh a tin of unopened soup its about 1lb. Hold 4 of those and then it seems a decent loss. I have only been doing a calorie restricred diet for a week, but to motivate myself I collected 22 tins in a bag (I have about 22 lbs to lose) and could barely lift it. So I feel very encouraged by losing 2lbs this week as its the beginning of the journey. Even if it takes a few months it will be a healthy way to lose it whilst keeping yourself fit at the same time. Well done and keep going!

How's it going nickylouise?

I see that whilst someone mentioned that muscle mass increase, no one has mentioned that after any decent bout of exercise, you will temporarily gain water as well.

The replies are right about losing weight too quickly. There are many reasons why rapid weight loss almost invariably leads to failure.

Not what you're looking for?
