Hello I have been struggling with my weight for yrs. I have two boys that depend on me for everything. I work full time as a healt care assistant. I am fed up of looking and feeling horrible about myself. I hate buying clothes so
Live in jeans and tops. I have started going to Zumba twice a week which I love. Just need to stop eating. I look after everyone else always before myself.

It sounds like you have a lot of responsibilities in your life, and you said you look after everyone else always before yourself. That is tough!
I'd recommend having a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as it is very easy to follow and is a good structure. Also, do join us for the Monday group weigh-in sessions if you would like to participate in a weekly weigh-in.
We also have several Pinned Posts (top right-hand-side of the homepage) - which are various challenges going on in the forum currently. There's also a collated Recipe post (just click on 'view 6 more' and you will see that).
Hope you have a good week and that you enjoy being part of the forum. It's a supportive and friendly place.

p.s. Great that you're enjoying the Zumba - that's really good exercise!
Well Done on the Zumba, maybe you can plan to cook some healthy meals, putting them in the freezer or fridge? I find if I'm tired or busy, a pre prepared meal, feels like a ready meal when it's not!
Taking care of you, benefits everyone, try some getting confidence, the job , the Boys, losing weight will help that, be lighter on your feet too.
You have made a good start in going to Zumba, (as a bloke i am still not sure what that is but it sounds good), and maybe just ease into a new way of eating slowly?
Maybe start by pledging to cut out or replace certain foods that you know are unhealthy and see how you feel? You don't need to stop eating, just stop eating foods that are bad for you
Good luck, if you decide to start the 12 week nhs plan then you will be amongst friends, we are all trying to lose weight, or not to gain weight, so give it a go and start caring for yourself John
Sounds like you need to put yourself first for a change. Bringing up children is not easy and working too ,If you change your eating habits along with the Zumba the weight will slowly come off . Make a weekly eating plan so you can be organised at meal times .I don't eat the same as everyone else in our house is I am a veggie and family love their meat ,but I just plan what we are having in advance . Be a good idea to cut out the sugary teats too until your sugar levels regulate themselves. Wish you luck keep posting.
Don't see it as having to "stop eating". Turn it around.... and see it as having to "start choosing wisely". You can still eat, and enjoy your food - but spread the food over a longer time - one treat a day, more fresh fruit and veg, smaller portions of protein foods. Doing this is easy - just focus on the reasons why you are doing this... as this will be what keeps you on track. You sound like you are ready for a healthier life so good luck!
Plan your food ahead , day before make sure you sort it out as you get up, then you know what you are eating . Once I stopped eating the same as my family I lost, be in control and work out a good plan with no. of calories allowed then count them before you eat. 5 months ago I had 2 pairs of jeans which were old and worn out that's all I wore for 2 years I couldn't get anymore to fit me as I had small waist big bum so all the waists were huge, 3.5 stone later I can buy cheap Tesco jeans and they fit everything is now too big its great. Do what I did, before 47 years have passed, I am now the weight I was when I got married, just a few more wrinkles but hey you cant have everything !!
I too am a care assistant. . Very physical job. It is hard but just take tiny steps. I have lost 4 lbs in about a month.. not a lot I know. But least it will stay off. Just got skipping rope.. hard but builds up stamina really quickly.. think more long term . Quick fixes aren't long term. You need energy for the children so just cut out one item per week. I gave up crisps which I ADORE. Now I don't miss them. Does work. Just go slow n know that u are doing it for HEALTH not weight loss n it takes the pain away
Thank you so much for all your messages. Planning food is done weekly for myself and my boys. I cook from scratch with fresh meat and veg. I try to keep as little rubbish in the house as possible or I just eat it. Bread is a major down fall so trying not to eat it at all. I am a terrible picker and the chocs or biscuits at work I often just eat without any pleasure at all.
You've replied on a very old post but we spotted you
