Oh hells bells 🔔. I’ve been absent since this corona virus raised its ugly head and have put back everything I lost plus more. I now weigh 15st2lbs think I started at 14st 10lbs. I hope I’m logged in as Susie71 but hubby joined at the same time and I might be under his name. Help me regain some self esteem PLEASE folks. Sorry I’ve not been around. Got cake and bread pudding to eat, made yesterday to use up bread! Help me.

Do you like walking for exercise?

Susie71 profile image

Hello. Yes I do like walking 🚶‍♀️ but haven’t done any since the lockdown as I’m obviously isolating. Miss it but can’t go out as 70 pluses have been told not to go out even for exercise. Just weighed myself again and it’s worse than I thought it’s 15st2lb 👎. More miserable than ever now.

You can turn this around.

Can you walk inside the house?

Live in a tiny one bedroom bungalow so very little room to walk in.

I know the feeling. I’m five foot one and I love my food. Lockdown has been bad for me as I suffer from anxiety anyway & I’m just coming to terms with the reality that I’m turning into a weeble.

Hello and welcome adelleg, I must have missed you this morning, I am sorry it has taken me so long to find you.

If you haven't already, please take the time to read the Welcome Newbie post, this will help you to navigate the forum, which is best done using the full website and not the app.

Please also take a look at all of the Challenges, Clubs and Events that we have, to help to keep you motivated and engaged with the forum.

The above link will take you to all the information you need. Participation is key to success and I would recommend that you at least join the Daily Diary and a Weigh In day of your choice.

Wishing you the best of luck in your weight loss journey and looking forward to seeing you around the forum :)

I think I must be a weeble too cos I’m a wee bit shorter than you at 5ft 0 inch. Hope you’re managing to keep your anxiety at bay atm. My mental health isn’t all that good either which is why I self medicate with food 🥘. I also don’t sleep well. It’s 04.12 and I’ve been awake an hour already. How are you getting on today ? Stay safe xx

Hi Susie,

I would suggest that you take a look at pinned posts, here is the link,

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

1. Read 'when weight loss is a struggle' and then decide which way of healthy eating you are going to choose.

2. Write down a menu plan and stick to it.

3. Freeze the cake and bread pudding in small portions.

4. Join in with the Daily Diary and a weigh in day of your choice.

5. Interact with the forum, replying to others and offering support, don't underestimate how supporting others will help you.

6. Find some exercise on line to do. You can still walk, take a look at Lesley Sansome walk a mile in 15 minutes.

Use your time in Lockdown to turn your eating around :)

Thank you for your reply. I will check out the pinned post and remind myself of what it said. Hubby decides the menu and generally changes his mind during the day so can’t do no 2. No. 3 is also out as freezer is full, no room at all, otherwise an excellent idea. Bread pudding is hard on the top from overcooking it so that isn’t too tempting and at present the cake is in a tin untouched 👍so I’m pleased about that. Generally I do reply to other posts and try to help. I will take a look at Lesley Sansome to see about walking a mile etc.

Thanks for helping , stay safe xx

Hi Susie, lots of us are finding that lockdown is tricky for weight loss, you are not alone! Well done for finding your way back to the site.

To help you find focus during these unprecedented times, can I suggest that you treat weight loss like a project? For example, work out your Body Mass Index and how many calories you need to eat per day to lose weight, then plan your menus each day accordingly? You could go one further and plan a whole new daily routine for yourself (I just thought of that - it would be good for me too!)

If you feel you have too much time on your hands and it is just leading you to eat, check out Lytham ’s Jailbreak Challenge: healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

I am gardening like a demon, have joined a virtual choir and have picked up my knitting again.

Do you have a freezer? Freeze portions of the pudding and cake rather than eating them in quick succession. And next time you have bread to use up, make breadcrumbs rather than sugary things, and freeze them for use in future meals?

How about finding a suitable exercise or dance video or class on youtube (I think TheTabbyCat follows one) and doing that as your daily exercise?

Hope some of this may help. You can do this! 🌈💪🏼

Hi bikegrrrl. Thank you for responding to my plea 😊. I checked out my bmi and bmr and it came up with 2700! Not a lot of help when it comes to losing weight. Didn’t say how many cals to actually lose weight, just the cals I needed per day 👎. Garden is currently a tip with loads of hubby’s projects and all too heavy for me to lift. His answer was “don’t worry about it “ so gardening is out for the foreseeable future.

Freezer is full so can’t do that one. Cake is in a tin out of sight and untouched (atm!) bread pudding is hard and not very nice so don’t want anymore, so that’s covered!

And checking out the walking videos later on, when it’s more of a sociable time. It’s 05.11 right now and I’ve been awake for 2 hours already! Sleepless nights are a worry too as it generally leads to the munchies. Not today though 👍.

So, thank you for your help, I certainly hope I can do it. 🤞 stay safe and have a good week xx

On you tube there are some 'walking' exercise videos. Basically walking/marching backwards and forwards. With, I think, some, little twirls to liven things up.

Will check that out later. It’s only 05.26 atm and would disturb hubby. Another sleepless night! Thanks Nomash, stay safe xx
