OH and myself are going to start doing a little walking at last!
I will do photos on here to help keep me going at it every week!
All we have been doing, on free days, over the past few colder months has been a weekly outing in the car round fairly local places hunting down 'out of town' cafes that we haven't been in. Normally following roadside notices. BUT if we didn't find anything, I used google maps and then saw the Nature reserve search ..... and here we are!
There are hundreds of 'em!!
Some organised and cared for, covering miles, out in the countryside! and some just a little patch of unused land with a few scraggy trees and a lot of litter in the middle of town!
This is the first one we have done.
The Lineway walk in 'Billy Wood'- A path on site of old railway line between Kippax and Garforth. I think it was a bit over 2 miles from Kippax to Garforth ..... and then back again so a bit over 4 miles round walk...(will learn how to do proper measurements for next one)
Nice and quite, got accompanied by a couple of Buzzards part of the way, but photo not very good on phone camera. Quite cold and very muddy in parts. little patches of sunshine now and then was good.
Coffee break at Pauline's cafe in Garforth.
One down ..... loads to go!!!

Lovely photos Vale. It's so nice to get out and about whilst getting fitter.
I've been trying to find new places to walk without getting lost as my sense of direction is appalling, so country parks are great, especially if they have signs to follow.
I need to remember to take photos too. Happy walking x
I am not a techy person, but was given some data on my mobile when we changed contacts.
If you have internet on mobile when out and about, go onto google maps! I am AWFUL at getting lost!!! but this will pinpoint you exactly on a map, and the blue dot follows you as you walk, so even I can't get lost!! Plus the 'explore' thing, to look for cafes and reserves in the area, is very useful! 👍 Rare for me to like anything 'new' but this is brilliant for for us with no good sense of direction and not great at map reading! 🤦♀️
Ooo good luck with your walking. I thought for a moment that was our little town as we have paths similar called the trail way which is miles of old railway tracks. We used to walk lots but due to various aches n pains, rubbish weather and lack of loos and a million other excuses 😬we got a treadmill in the garage to walk on days we don’t get out. But we defo do more if we actually get out the house. X
I like train trails and canal walks, They are both rather flat! We both have various aches and pains too! We just took it very steady and rested if needed.... plus you need a coffee in the middle there! ☕ but not more than one ..as you said ... lack of loos! 😏
I've just started walking again after a second hip replacement and just back from a 2 mile walk with a coffee shop stop and we are planning them on free days like you do
Bliss is the word! in the sunshine with nothing to rush around for!! I can see us doing this often to keep active when we retire! OH has about 21 months to go and I have about 3.5 years and we are busy now getting the camping trailer ready. 😁🌞
