Hi Hopalong,
I didn't realize there was one or another... lol. I really thought it was a matter of cutting out and halving your plate. So I don't know then, please be patient with me as I am a complete novice xx
Just keep posting and learn a little every day. You can record your food and exercise on the Daily Diary. Today's is

to give a flavour of what members eat. Or members can look at your menu and might suggest things that work for them. Good luck with your weight loss journey
To lose weight we need to eat less calories. But not all calories are equal. Too much sugar and carbohydrates can hinder fat loss, whereas protein and fat can help keep you full. We need to eat food that we enjoy, whilst eating a good variety for balanced nutrition π
I calorie count using the my fitness pal app. Itβs free and when you set it up it gives you the calories you need to eat per day to loose weight depending on your weight, fitness level etc. Itβs a food diary that you can search thousands of brands or enter your own meal There are sooo many types of eating plans out there it can get confusing. I like plain and simple to follow. Good luck which ever method you choose. π
Try the Pinch of Nom everyday light book. Itβs a good easy recipe book to follow. You might be able to find some of the recipes online. It has breakfasts, quick meals, fakeaways and lots more. All calorie counted. Thereβs only 2 in my household so I either halve the recipe ingredients or freeze the 2 extra portions.
My current favourites that meet your requirement of easy plain, quick. Batch cook soups, freeze portions. Rice or wholewheat noodles . Cous cous. One egg omelette with butter beans Pollock, cod or salmon steaks kept in freezer , marinated in anything and microwaved. Small baked potatoes. Broccoli steam with gravy. Freeze bunches of parsley and add different herbs and types of chilli to everything. Zero fat yogurt. Porridge.
I eat a lot of chicken as it is so versatile, I even eat it for supper. Something is working as I recently got to my goal weight at S.W. I lost 2st 1lb I know I could lose more, but as I am over 70 I am happy to stay as I am and maintain as far as I can. Good luck in your weight loss journey.
Chicken is delicious especially in soup. You must be feeling great with that weightloss!
Yes I am I hope you manage also to lose what you want,
My target is to eat healthy balanced meals for twelve months -using a food diary and this forum to stay honest - for a year and to accept the weight I am at the end of 2020. I am now -after a tough time at the beginning of Jan -really getting into it. What is your best meal suggestion?
I enjoy diet cola chicken, lots of recipes here and on other sites, but also you can adapt any recipe. If it calls for cream you can use yoghurt or quark. You can also use cream cheese in a lot of recipes, you learn more as you go. If I want to eat chocolate or biscuits I have a little only.
