If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.
Some of us here find that what works, for weight-loss and diabetes, is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
With my stack of books on diets, from Keto to Laura Thomas, not forgetting Andy Puddicombe, I trust I can say goodbye to ten kilos... as long as I do more than read the books!
The theory is that you can get all the advice you need here for free!
My brother bought a book by Dr Jason - Fung... but did not get around to reading it! Now he has cancer - but I have told him that LCHF and IF are good for cancer as well as weight-loss.
Never too old to have a positive attitude to your health and well-being. In fact Bette Davis said "Getting old is not for cissies" this quote rings very true. I am 20 years behind you, but I consider I am in training for the next phase of my life. Eating healthily and exercising, as much as I can. is what my body deserves. I am luckier than a lot to have got this far and I cherish my health more than anything. You can do this if you put your mind to it and ignore the ageist saboteurs who will say....., "At your age...." I know, you know exactly what I mean!!! Good luck with your endeavours.
