Third time lucky... So I'm trying again, with little hope or motivation. I currently weigh 13stone 8lbs and would like to lose anything at all! My interim aim is to actually weigh myself next Saturday. I'm setting my goals realistic this time lol. I'm not telling anyone outside the community as I'm sick of saying , "no I've not lost anything", if I do lose weight they will get a surprise. Don't wish me luck, just wish me back next Saturday, either way I'll have met a goal lol. Happy dieting all x

I know exactly how you feel! I'm in the same boat. I weigh 16St and it seems to up every time I check!!

I know! I'm only 5ft tall and the extra 5 stone has me looking very round. There was always something that i could throw on before that would disguise my size but not any more. If I don't do something soon I won't be fit enough to enjoy anything.

Hi Fortynfedup I was just reading through your past posts. I was wondering what motivates you? Do you want to lose weight? Live a healthier lifestyle or are there other desires? Part of what I wanted to do was get control back over my life by tackling my overeating. Maybe having a clear goal of what you want to achieve could help focus you. I don't know how to do links to past posts but I distinctly remember a list posted by Claz about what she wanted to achieve because it was so focused and positive. Even just having a target skirt can be really motivating. I wish you here next Saturday and really hope you will join us in the weigh in because you will be guaranteed loads of support 😀

I want to lose weight more than I can explain, having suffered anxiety and depression badly over the last 4 years, I have went from a very fit, slim and healthy person to someone who avoids mirrors, does not want to go out in case I'm seen and who can't climb the stairs without sore knees and getting out of breath. I'm ashamed of myself. You would think all of this would push me towards success but I cant seem to stop. I've struggled since I was 20 with my weight but never more than a size or two. I've lost control.

I can completely relate! I'm a bit taller, so I look like I have a big tyre around my waist. I wear baggy clothes, and a size too big so people cant tell how big I am. My confidence has fallen through the floor, my back hurts non-stop, and my knees make creaking noises when I go up stairs!! Its a farce. I really hope I can make serious in-roads with weight. Fingers crossed.

I'm am sporting leggings and huge t-shirts lol, some days its pyjamas all day if I can get away with it. I think even my feet have put on weight as I'm now a six instead of a 5, either that or I've crushed them! I'm sure you will do great on your weight loss, I'm feeling more positive already just for the support everyone has given so far. I'm determined to post next week even if I've put on 10 pounds lol. Good luck x

How have you been doing?

nteapea profile image
nteapea in reply toFortynfedup

I really really recognise what you are saying I too was treated for anxiety and depression last year after struggling for a year before that. I completed a couple of CBT courses that really helped me, but I started my weight loss before that hoping to bring some of that control back. The weight loss helped me to see I could tackle the CBT but it's different for everyone and perhaps some would need to do the CBT work before tackling the weight loss. What has become very clear to me is that mindset and mental health are completely linked to my weight loss. I really recommend speaking to your GP if you feel comfortable to do so it helped me so much. But my main tip for losing weight feeling as you do would be to have small achievable goals, 1/2 lb at a time or even stay the same anything else is too overwhelming.

Fortynfedup in reply tonteapea

I'm so glad that you have managed CBT and weight loss, that proves it can be done. You must be a very strong person to have battled both. I am clinically depressed after suffering anxiety since I was little. My anxiety is with me every waking moment and when I struggle to cope with my anxiety that's when my depression kicks in. I've seen my GP, Psychologists, psychiatrist, completed group therapy, CBT on-line and one to one, I take meds, I've read lots about the tools to help my condition, joined the NHS site for depression and learned relaxation techniques lol. The only thing left is healthy eating, weight loss and excersize, I know this would help lots and put me back on track but it feels like every time I think I'm doing well, something happens to increase my anxiety and I head straight for the grub. You are so right that mental health and weight lose are effected by each other. I only seem to be able to control one. X

I really hope we can help you with the weight loss, this forum helped me so much 😀 I come on here and have a read when I feel like stress eating and it takes the urge away. I hope that if you can get some success and balance here it might help you win some self confidence back. Even just breaking the habit of comfort eating would be so awesome 😀 Stick around stay with us 😀

That's great. I'm so pleased for you. I'm going to make a few goals for myself I think. Xx

in reply toFortynfedup

Hi and welcome - make the goals small and achievable :) so go for say 7lbs by Christmas and surprise yourself if you do better than this :)

Wishing you all the best on your weigh loss journey :)

Most importantly do it for YOU! :)

There's all sorts of reasons why we don't do as well as we hope to (got a fairly long list myself :) )

I've found that a strong aid to keeping strong and on 'the straight and narrow' is to stay plugged into this site. Regular posting of your achievements and failures helps to keep you focused but also posting replies to support others additionally helps strengthen one's own willpower.

I've been my own worst enemy of late, in not following that ethos :)

Good luck!

Your right, all the excuses in the world won't change my weight. If I can't lose weight this week there is something wrong, I'm working the next 4 days, we have a puppy who is very energetic and my cousin has booked a Christmas night out for us. Fingers crossed that will power overcomes. I'll keep checking in with the site. Thank you for your support x

Have you got a plan? Are you calorie counting?

Fortynfedup profile image
Fortynfedup in reply toTiggerr

I like calorie counting best, I find it easier when working shifts. Ongoing to count it all up and keep myself honest. What was your plan? And congrats on achieving your goal x

Tiggerr profile image
Tiggerr in reply toFortynfedup

I calorie counted. Since maintaining I tried to stop and just 'be sensible' but I'm starting to lose that battle so on Monday I'm going back to calorie counting.

Fortynfedup profile image
Fortynfedup in reply toTiggerr

Good idea. Years ago I went to a calorie counting class and when you got to target they increased your calories by 50 per day until you stopped losing, that way you new your personal daily maximum to eat without putting on. I still lost a couple a

Of pounds at first then it evened out at about 250 cals a day more than I was on. I saved them up for weekends. X
