Hi I’m new! Need to lose at least 3 stone. Have tried different “diets “ over the years which seem to work for a while then I stop losing. Any ideas on best healthiest way? Should I join Slimming World so I get support from. Group or try Fast 800/ 5:2?

Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum Time_2_Change
You will have been sent a link to Pinned Posts in your welcome message. Please read it carefully so you can find all the information you need to find your way around.
With regards to the best diet, the one that you can stick to easily and long term is always the best. Personally, I need some guidance regarding portion size so calorie counting is good. Many also find reduced carbohydrates works, but you do need to eat some good healthy fat. Have a good look around and have a good long hard think about what has gone wrong before, and learn from that 😊
This is a very busy forum with lots going on, and nothing beats joining in, reading posts and replying to others. Our group Weigh-in and the Daily Diary are probably the best places to start.
Best wishes in your weight loss journey
Indigo 😊
Welcome, Time__2_Change
You'll find excellent group support here if you join a weekly weigh-in. It has carried me through the ups and down for a couple of years so I highly recommend it. I also find the Daily Diary helpful with ideas about meals, and with sticking to my plans.
With diets that have worked for a while and then stopped, it's possible that you've been over-restrictive and your body's gone into starvation mode. You may find this interesting psychologytoday.com/us/blog...
Welcome T2C
Indigo and BG have both provided good starting points and I'd like to reiterate that joining in with the Daily Diarys is a good place to start.
Good luck!
Hi time 2 change and welcome.
Hello Hidden maybe it’s time to ditch the diets and start a healthy way of eating instead. Many people on here follow a LCHF way of eating. Worth having a look at.
Personally I wouldn’t join a slimming group. You’d be better saving the money for your new wardrobe 😂
Hi, Hidden , welcome.
Yes - try Intermittent Fasting - but I would not recommend Fast 800/ 5:2.
If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.
Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
Myfitnesspal app helped me loose 2.5 stone, ( which i regained when i stoped logging, so i am now back to it) lost 1.5kg last week... 😉 Its all about balance, dont deprive your self have smaller portions and move more.. best wishes

You'll find everything you need, to get the most out of the forum, in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... I recommend getting involved with the events, clubs and challenges on offer, particularly a weekly weigh-in and the Daily Diary.

Wishing you success in 2020
I am following the paid for Fast 800 programme and dropped 2st this year. I am about a third of the way through the first part of the programme. Being in Facebook groups for people trying to lose weight using the books alone I can see a marked difference in how people cope. The paid for programme, if you follow it to the letter, takes away any choices regarding what you eat (almost) and how to exercise and meditate. People trying to follow the book seem to have issues choosing which meals to choose and what to do. I found, so far, that being told what to do makes life easier. But that is just me. It comes down to the individual. I dropped 2st this year and am looking forwards to the possibility of keeping it off.
