My name is Beth, I am 24, recently married and obese! I have tried every diet you can think of, but, I just cant seem to stick to them. I used to put it down to lack of will power, and lack of support from my slim, eat-what-ever-he-wants-husband. However, I now realise that it is all just an excuse. if I want to change something in my life, something that is making me unhappy, unsociable and depressed, then i've got to do it. i've got to face up to the fact that it wont be easy, and that the months will still continue to go by, no matter if I try or not. No more "ill start on Monday" or "oh well i've had one biscuit now, forget the diet" attitude. I'm starting now. right now! WHO IS WITH ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done TA91. We are all with you! I think it gets easier after about the 2nd week and then you might find yourself surprised to be actually enjoy taking back control and getting fit and healthy. Congratulations on your recent marriage - often people put on weight when they get married, so you will need to stay focussed! Am sure you can do it if you set your mind to it. All the best...

It is still a difficult one for me watching the guys in the family eat twice as much as I can. That was a real lightbulb moment for me, realising that they could and I couldn't. But it has made all the difference to my results, this time. Good luck with your first week. And your second weigh in!

Well done Beth for making the effort to diet. I hate the word diet as it means you are trying to deprive yourself of things. I found that by just cutting back on portion sizes to start off with really helps. Look at what quantity you are eating and then think that next time you will cut off maybe a third or what ever feels right for you. Once you start doing that then swap some of the food on your plate for other things. So if you like sausage and chips maybe you could cut out some of the chips and add some veg instead. Sometimes we reach for food as a comfort thing. I try to distract myself by doing other things, or telling myself that I will go and get myself something in about 10 minutes and sometimes I don't always want it then. Also I used to eat something healthy in between the bad things. e.g. a carrot before the chocolate. I found then that it was easier to wean myself off the chocolate. I have recently changed my eating habits again for medical reasons and I find eating lots of protein and less carbs makes me feel full for a lot longer. I am still fat but my weight is dropping. Don't follow faddy diets, just work out what's best for you. And good luck. Let me know how you are getting on. Remember your husband loves you anyway.

Aww thankyou jjgilb, you've put a smile on my face this morning :) Thankyou :) I have started looking at portion control, and bought myself a smaller plate, which seems to be helping, but I do still feel hungry afterwards, and have been opting for a yoghurt. High protein, low carb seems a good idea, the only issue I have, is that I LOVE bread, pasta, potatoes etc, haha I don't even know what I would eat if I couldn't eat those things haha. What is a typical day for you ie breakfast, lunch, tea and snack? xx

I am. I am on day 1 today and know all about the excuses. You are young and I am sure, beautiful. Do it for yourself and also focus on all the things you are good at and your achievements in life. I'm a granny but want to look nice, that's why I am starting but you have everything to look forward to. Go on Beth, you will do it.
