I am 43 yr old mum of 4, struggling to stop the middle-age spread creeping in. Working, studying for a degree and looking after my children is proving a logistical nightmare when trying to fit exercise in too. I'm not looking at losing a lot of weight, 6-8kg will do, but losing it and maintaining it is the ultimate goal.
Nice to meet you all

Hi my daughter (who is 47) has been on the keto diet and the weight is coming off. She finds it easier to follow when she is at work (like you are) and at the weekend she has a few treats. She has done well. It's OK if you like meat (which I don't much). Also I find that getting some incidental exercise in, especially if you are doing a sitting down job and also studying helps. When I was working I use to make sure I went out lunchtimes for a walk. Also taking the stairs instead of the lift is good exercise but most of all it boils down to what you put in your mouth. Anyway good luck with your weight loss. I've tried WW about 3 times but in the end I always come back to this as it is so helpful.
Hi Lindyloom, thank you 😄 I have looked at keto so might give it a go. I work in a school so am either constantly on the go or sitting for a good portion of the day. I have duty every lunchtime so can't squeeze exercise in there.

The first article is interesting. I am Gluten intolerant so my carb intake is actually quite low (gf bread and pasta is not nice 🤢) so I tend to steer clear. I know it's in other foods so may have to see if I'm over doing it somewhere else, I might be surprised! 🤔
The good news, is that you don't need to add to your stress by trying too hard to fit exercise in to your busy schedule. Nearly all weight loss is about eating the right things in the right amounts.
Maintaining is often harder than losing so eating correctly now as part of your weight loss journey will aid you in getting into the right mindset, prior to reaching your goal.
That's probably the best way to prioritise things. After eating healthily, exercise is good for our overall health and it gives us a good mental boost when we do it
