I would say you haven't failed, rather that slimming world and weight watchers have failed you, so don't go down the same road again, find a new approach :) Take your time reading those links moreless has given you as they could point you in a new direction :)

I think the problem with sliming world and WW is that it cannot be sustained as a lifestyle. People would reach their target weight, get bored with the food and revered back to their old way of eating, hence inevitably would put the weight back on.

So, as others suggested, you can try different approach. Instead being on a "diet", think how you can change your way of eating in a more sustainable manner.

I would try TRE (time restricted eating) and LCHF. Reducing substantially the amount of refined sugar and starchy carbs (potatoes, rice, bread and pasta) you eat, would help.

Good luck!

Hi, flo72003

I agree with everything you say - but is there a difference between Time Restricted Eating and Intermittent Fasting?

I see that you have joined the "Fasting and Furious" forum... and I hope you will post there soon.

Hi S11m

I am not sure whether there is a significant (or any) difference between TRE and IF. Probably not. :)

I have seen, both being used, so In my mind, TRE describes better the eating period within a day, while IF is more suitable for describing longer fasts. Like you, for example do 68 hours fasts and so on.

As I said, I would not impose it as something different to anyone, it is just my personal interpretation.

I have joined "Fasting and Furious" forum, as I find IF (or TRE) a really useful way to maintain weight. I also have read about its additional health benefits. I have been doing IF for over 2 years now and intend to carry on.

Thanks for your suggestion post on F&F forum. I would be happy to do so, when an opportunity arises.

The article bellow describes TRE as one of the ways you can do IF:

healthline.com/nutrition/ti...

"Intermittent fasting is a broad term that refers to multiple specific eating patterns.

Each type of intermittent fasting includes fasting periods that are longer than a normal overnight fast of 8–12 hours.

“Time-restricted eating,” or “time-restricted feeding,” refers to when eating is limited to a certain number of hours each day."

Hi, Slimpurple , Welcome.

Many of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Eating All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

read the info admin will send you and see what takes your fancy i started with the 12 week nhs plan if you try that dont just stick to the 1400 cals suggested but check your allowance and eat to the top end of it and make your calories count ie is 1 biscuit of 100 cals worth it when doesnt fill you. also join in on a weigh in youll get plenty of support, im a wednesday wobble warrior and there very supportive. good luck

In my view, weight watchers and slimming world works don’t work because they let you have limited amounts of sugary stuff as a treat (motto of these is that you have got to treat yourself with sugary crap or you will fall off the wagon). The trouble is those small amounts of sugar stimulate cravings, so we don’t just stop at the mouse sized treat but eat enough to satisfy an elephant. Obviously SOME people can eat one square of chocolate but they aren’t the people at weight watchers. I find it far easier not to eat any sugar whatsoever including sweeteners. And that’s it.
