I have been to every slimming club going and I've lost weight and put it back on and more . I could stand up and take a class myself as I have been a serial returner . I loose the weight and get near to my goal then I binge and I put it back on .I know I am responsible for what I put in my mouth but I know I can do it . I returned to a class and when the lady said to be back again I hope your going to stick to it this time,I just died of embarrassment. I have waisted her time and support and I have waisted my money . So here I am . I am 56 and Obese ( a word I hate but thats what is says on the chart) My weight is effecting my health, mood , home life so here I am Day 1 eating healthy and excersising. Wearing my positive head!!
Happy healthy eating everyone.

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the NHS BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
The reason I put it all back on again is I kid myself that I will start again tomorrow so when tomorrow comes I promise myself I will be good then when I'm not I feel so guilty and bad that I kid myself that I'm happy being fat and I'm not .
Thank you for your reply. I'm trying to figure out why I put it all back on again, I lost 4 stone before I gave up smoking but I've put it all back on again. Part of my gain was smoking related but about half of it was something else I think. I'm working on why I let myself gain so much.
I tried one of those commercial groups but actually they were sitting there eating their special WW snack packs and the tables were loaded with special jam biscuits crisp breads etc. To make money It made me feel quite angry and I decided to give it a miss
This is a great group because our will get genuine heArtfelt support from people facing the same struggle
I have never been to WW or SW- don't like the thought of spending money on something that should (stress on the should) be logical!) I am doing the NHS 12 week weight loss plan which is calorie counting and because I can eat what I like in moderation as long as its in my allowance I don't consider it a diet so I don't feel like I am missing out on anything- so I have the occasional packet of crisps or glass of wine and I am not hungry. I still fall off the wagon at times (don't we all) but I don't get het up about it- try and think of what caused it and learn from it
WW is actually very good. They advocate eating real food cooked from scratch but do sell convenience foods to those who want them.
It's easy to dismiss them but they do a good job. Without them I wouldn't have lost nearly five stone and taken up running. In a few weeks I mark 7 years of successful maintenance
All diets work if you follow the healthy eating plan but I found it difficult. I was wasting there time by not sticking to it so much so that I am overweight and unhealthy. So it's onwards and upwards I am wearing positive pants now and not negative knickers.
