I’m not sure how I came to be on here but it looks good! I was checking my BMI (knowing full well I was overweight- in fact just crept back to overweight after being obese thanks to a stomach upset last week- result!!). It’s actually made me determined to get some more of that long-standing fat off. About time. Finally going to give it a go after years of denying it’s a problem. I’m in my early 50s and want to be able to enjoy life with less excess weight to carry. All support welcome 😀

I#ll give you something to read that may help you understand why it's so much more difficult to lose the weight as we get older healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and then something that will suggest a way forward that doesn't require calorie counting phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...
This is a busy and interactive forum so we've put together this Welcome post that will help you find your way around healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... I particularly recommend joining a weekly weigh in and using the Daily Diary.
I hope you'll become an active member of the forum
Welcome here and great you decided to get to a healthy weight.
BridgeGirl has kindly introduced some events which we find useful.
I learn a lot by reading posts and discussing and supporting.
There's a 12-week plan you can download from the NHS website.
Until you structure yourself to a regime, two tips that can help immediately:
1) cut down on carbohydrates. I started by putting back a third of the rice I would have otherwise eaten. When awareness grows, you can do more tweaking.
2) portion control is always at hand. Again, with awareness, you will see how to execute it or part of it.
PS: take some data, photo of yourself before you start the journey, so that you can look back.
Well done and congratulations on making this decision! You will not regret it! Its not just the losing weight but the how you do it that matters. Finding what works in a way that brings you enjoyment! For example, I started out by brisk walking 30 mins a day and it is AMAZING how good it feels to get fresh air and be outdoors! It heals the mind as well as tones and strengthens the body! And feeling good is all part of the journey and will help you stick to it!
