What are you doing at the moment? If you are calorie counting then why not take a look at doing Low Carb High Fat instead.

Is there something that has worked in the past?

Have you used the Daily Diary here. You would get lots of advice and support if you posted your menu's daily.

Hello HW,

I am sorry that I have not replied earlier, I was just passing through and saw your message :)

You can find the Daily Diary in Events. I hope that you are using the full site and not the app. The app will not give you full access. If you take a look at the Newbie Pack that BridgeGirl gave you when she welcomed you, it will tell you how to get there, or you could use this visual aid, which is also in the Newbie Pack,

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

The idea is that you put down all the food you are going to consume in a day - most people plan ahead the night before. Others who are using the diary will make comments and if you want to know something specific, you can ask and they will point you in the right direction. We all loose weight in different ways, so the advice may vary.

If you are going to calorie count, which will help you to see what a portion looks like, then please make sure you find your personal Calorie allowance by using the NHS BMI calculator - link in the Newbie pack.

Low Carb High Fat has nothing to do with any Company, well done for steering clear of them, they only want your money.

There is a forum here on HU that will explain Low Carb High Fat, here is the link, healthunlocked.com/lchf-diet

Many people here use this approach and are very successful.

We have been brought up to believe that we should eat low fat products and avoid fatty food - all it has done is caused a generation or two of overweight people. It is now being accepted that actually we need good fats in our diets. They are satiating and enjoyable and keep us full far longer than the low fat, diet versions of food that are full of sugar, spike our insulin levels and leave us craving for more, which is also what a High Carb diet does.

Our bodies have a glycemic response to carbs, turning them into sugar in our bodies, take a look at theses links to have an idea of what I am saying,

phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

Trying to loose weight is not a straight forward journey, there are many bends and steep mountains to climb. We are all different and we all have to find what works for us. The one thing that you have already learnt is that spending a fortune on the 'diet' industry is not the way.

My advice would be, start by cutting down on the white carbs, introduce good fats eat plenty of vegetables and be careful not to overload on fruit which has a lot of natural sugar in it. Berries are best.

Don't try making all the changes at once and try to accept that the best way of making a difference is not to diet, but to find a sustainable healthy eating plan that you can stick to so as not to yo-yo back up again.

Many of us are here for the long haul, those that get involved here benefit from lots of support and as you read more and more posts, you will learn more and more and will keep adjusting your way of eating until something finally clicks.

Take a look at the LCHF link and have a good read there as well.

I hope that this will help.

BridgeGirl has given you some good links too, make sure you take the time to read it all, probably twice and come and ask questions if you need to :)

Good luck

I feel your pain , no matter what I try I don't budge, just started on HRT along with a load of other medications and reading the fact sheet not only does it increase your chance of cancer ,it also makes you gain weight from water tension. I feel like going to bed and never getting up again .

I’m sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed, ☹️ Why are you taking HRT? Most people seem to do well on it

I’m presuming you are menopausal? This causes all sorts of changes to our bodies, including our hunger and appetite hormones, please read this for a better explantation and an alternative way of eating healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Did you have chance to read all the information Lucigret gave you? Please just ask if you have any questions 😊
