Hi all, just starting on the 12 week plan. I cant figure how to track calories. I see there is a link to a calculator, and a place to record total calories at end of day...how do you keep a record as you go?
Tracking calories: Hi all, just starting... - Weight Loss Support
Tracking calories
Good morning, U201277, and welcome to the forum 😊
Members use a variety of different apps to record their calories. MyFitnessPal is a popular one but you can see posts and comment in a Topic on Apps and Trackers - the welcome pack will help you find your way there.
Before you start the 12 week plan, you need to find your recommended calorie range from the NHS BMI calculator nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we... as the 1400/1900 figures are generic and suit very few of us
This welcome pack explains how the forum works and how to find your way around healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... Please take your time reading it so you get the best out of your time here.
You'll find a list of all our activities on the daily chat thread here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... I recommend joining a weekly weigh in on the day of your choice.
For your privacy and safety online, we suggest that you lock your posts by selecting ‘members of my community’ when you write a new post. Please read our security post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... especially as your post isn’t locked
Wishing you every success in reaching your goals 😊
Thanks BridgeGirl. My friend who does the programme mentioned getting packs of recipes etc in post, is this possible, or is it just the online resource...I saw there was a recipe app.
Another question, do I weigh in before I start, or only when I get a loss?
You'll be very welcome to join a weigh in today. The Sunday Super Slimmers team is very supportive (not that I'm biased as it's my team )
The weekly weight loss packs are the 12 week plan: you'll see as you download it. You can also sign up for weekly email support. It's not something I did but I assume it will give you an extra boost. nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we...
I got involved on the forum from the beginning, not posting, just reading and replying to others, joining a weigh in and using the Daily Diary. That has always kept me focused and I've learned a huge amount along the way. My understanding of healthy eating is very different from what it was 18 months ago
Just starting today too, fingers crossed to us, thanks for the tips Bridgegirl
Good morning, Gingin1
My apologies, I only just spotted your reply. I hope you've had time to read the links I gave above so do a bit of exploring and come back with any questions. I would recommend joining a weekly weigh in on the day of your choice and using the Daily Diary for planning your meals healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Wishing you success
There are a few free apps that help you track, I’m currently using My Fitness Pal (MFP) but I’ve previously used Nutra Check calorie counter. Both are good apps. A lot of people plan ahead using the tracker, so rather than counting what they eat as they go, they track by planning ahead for the day. The MFP app has a range of recipes In there too which is helpful.
