Hi, I started Saturday and I am feeling quite positive at the moment. Now that I have started monitoring my calories I am horrified by how many I was probably consuming on a daily basis and can honestly see why I was putting on weight and not losing anything. Some lunchtimes I was having two bread rolls with chicken on with a bag of crisps and then evenings after dinner I was eating lots of snacks and wine. I hope that by keeping an eye on my calories plus exercising more will help me lose weight.

Calories
It can be an eye-opener when we look at what we're eating.
Have you checked your calorie range with the NHS BMI calculator? If you're going for a calorie counting plan, you need to do that
wow your diet sounds like what mine was like, I'm normally a SW Dieter... I've started calorie counting since Monday and I am shocked too, even portion sizes, last night I had chicken breast, cauliflower rice and mushrooms, spiced up a bit, I weighed 100g of chicken which was 106kcal and I'm not joking I would normally have 4 times the amount, "thinking ye chicken its good for you!" its defo an eye opener, good luck for the rest of your week, I like you am positive and hoping for a weight loss come weigh in xx
I've started a week and half ago and as you had "chicken revelation " I had a "rice revelation". I've tried to have a serving of rice that would fit into my carbs and calorie intake and after putting my usual serving on plate I had to remove more than half of it
Good luck on next weigh in everyone!
It's defo an eye opener, I've made a chart of popular foods to me, the things I eat often and the weight and calories so I can check quickly, it's working so far x
Hello and a very warm welcome to the Weight Loss Forum mummychubby
I share your shock!! The things that surprised me were so called “healthy” things like bananas and flapjack!! Yikes! But remember some calories are better for you than other’s plus they keep you full for longer.

I too am shocked at how many calories are in some foods. I once went to a restaurant that had the calories on the menu and it put me off dessert for life. And buying from fast food places!
