So last week I tried starting my healthy living and weight loss last week. Did 2 workouts and was in agony for the rest of the week then ended up having a night out with the girls.
This week I have done 3 works, tracked my calories, ate healthy meals and I am feeling super proud of my self! Kinda don’t want to do any measurements or scales at the end of the week because if I haven’t lost weight or inches it will put a dampener on my hard work

Absolutely, you are right. Sometimes weighing ourselves is not helpful in case it gives us a downer when we are riding high on a wave of achievement, as you are now.
Remember btw that a night out with the girls can mean a large cocktail glass, a silly miniature parasol, a pink shiny-curl-ended twizzle stick, some witty ice cubes - and just a slurp of nice fizzy water! BB x
I like BerlinBetty's idea about what a cocktail can be.
The reason I believe we should take regular measurements is so we can make decisions based on what we find. If the numbers show a loss than all is good. If we find the numbers aren't what we hoped they would be then that gives us a chance to review what we've been doing and then make any necessary changes to improve matters.
I do see where you are coming from on this, Tiggerr , absolutely I do, but perhaps the problem for some of us is that our bodies do things at sometimes bewilderingly slow paces, or even appear to move in the wrong direction when we have tried so hard, and then some of us can move into the 'hec, what on earth's the point?' mode (or a less polite version of that...) and give up.
Measurements of course record layers of fat, but they can also give a misleading reading due to the time of the month (I used to blow up like a barrage balloon ) or the amount of fluid on board at any given time. Indigestion, acidic or as a result of gas in the system, can also make us look and feel like something launched to advertise tyres. I'm a keen believer in weighing ourselves regularly though not necessarily every day but measurements can be discouraging if taken too often, also very inaccurate if we are pulling or relaxing the tape too much!
I'm not arguing with the principal of measuring: we all know that waist width is considered by the NHS to be an important indicator of overall health and fitness. BB x
know what you mean this is also our first week have weighed everything counted & recorded every single calorie & been on exercise machines every day will weigh & measure ourselves on sunday after saying a little prayer lol can only hope but will try not to get on a downer if nothing has changed
I used to think that the scales were God. Then I stumbled across an article, then articles then blogs and podcasts talking about a different way. A way that didn't involve killing myself at the gym and starving myself resulting in zero change to my body which I was told needed to change. Intuitive eating helped me shake off the diet mentality and realise that health is SO much more than my weight or how much tape goes round my waist. Relying on the scales to tell me how healthy I was meant that I binged, 'fell off the wagon' and inevitably gave up on my health kick. Check out intuitive eating, it's changed my life.
