Hi all I've not been on since I joined sorry. I just can't get out of this rut I'm tired all the time because I can't sleep at night. I had a rhumatology appointment last week and she has written to my GP suggesting they put me on medication for weight loss. Does anyone know if prescribed weight loss pills work. I can't see how they can work when I can't exercise because of pain and breathlessness. It's hard because I know my symptoms would subside if I lost weight as I've done it before. The rhumatology nurse did say I hadn't put anymore weight on which surprised me. Sorry for waffling on but once I start I can't stop. I talk to the dog but he's no help really.
Thank you for reading but what do you all think about weight loss pills

Sorry to hear you are struggling ☹️ First of all, weight loss is about what you eat, not how much you exercise. Exercise is good for many things but rarely leads to weight loss by itself. I have mobility problems, and we have other members who are similar, and yet we have lost weight. If you run the NHS BMI checker it allows you to select your activity levels and suggests a calorie target based upon that.
However, I think it’s more getting started and your mindset that are holding you back. Try not to make it a big deal, it’s just food. Could you take a step by step approach? Focus on three meals with no snacks for a couple of days, think about portion size and eat slowly and enjoy every mouthful. It takes time create new habits, but it’s very important
With regards to any medical help, that’s between you and your doctor, we are not trained, but I hope you can receive support either way
Sounds really hard if you can’t sleep. Sorry I’ve no experience of weight loss pills but it sounds as though you know it would help to lose weight so good luck finding your way.
sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment, I don't know of any diet pills that doctors prescribe other than Orlistat I tried these once and from my experience I wouldn't have them again or recommend them, They block fat from being absorbed ( but the fat has to go somewhere ) so it passes through as very oily bright orangey horrible smelling stuff, so you have to keep your fat intake very low, I'm not trying to put you off just passing on my experience .If you look around the forum there are people on here that can encourage and support you all the way as they are going through their own weight loss journey. I wish you well
It was IndigoBlue61, and it gets to the stage where you daren't pass wind , who knew what might happen! It also made my skin very dry. I lost about 8lb using these tablets but the side effects were just too much for me.
Hello Wildething. I do have experience (very limited) of orsalit. It was a disater for me. Without putting too fine a point on it, I had the uncontrollable runs! I obly stayed on them a month and I lost no weight!
It is absolotly horrid struggling to loose weight and not knowing where to begin.
The forum really does help, it really does. I have lost and kept off three stone for about 2 years now. It is the first sustained weightloss Ive ever had and iy is first time I have felt in contol of my eating. My overall health and well being has improved so much.
Dont get me wrong, it is b***dy hard work and there are lots of disappointments. But the first time you fit easily into a pair of highstreet skinny jeans or walk up the stairs or whatever yout goal is, its all worth it.
Good luck with your weight loss wildthing.cant advise on pills etc., I’m a relative newbie but I’ve found that when I visit this forum more often, I feel more connected and so more motivated. There’s some interesting ( and healthy and delicious) recipes too. Trying them out can be fun. Sorry you’re not sleeping. Hope you get a few good nights. Best wishes, Seedhead x
I am so sorry that you are in a rut. Tiredness is horrible and puts you in a vicious circle.
It might be worth adjusting one thing in your day to day life, sometimes our routines become our safe place that we don't want to leave.
I have no experience of weight loss pills except hearsay - grim and messy!! Putting on and losing weight is enmeshed in our day to day lives, I worry that if you set your heart on pills you could be very let down. You might have to put in the hard work to get the reward.
See I rattle on too, the dog cant get a word in edgeways!!
