Weight loss stalled
Personally I mix a few days in where I eat only plant based meals and cut right down on carbs / meat. Sometimes I'll go 5 weekdays with little meat (if any) and base my main meals on veggie curries, butternut squash stews, stir fry's or roasted veg as main meals.
Pack in as many different vegetables for a few days so your getting a lot of different nutrients from them all. I know this method works for me though it may not work for everyone!
It depends upon how far you’ve come and what you class as a stall . . . We all have two or even three weeks when the scales don’t move. . . and it’s important to look at the whole picture, energy levels and inch loss etc
But it's always useful to double check your calorie target and assess your food quality.
I see you had a loss 9 days ago so my advice is to stick with what you’re doing, it’s clearly working 😊
Hi just asking.in advance as I tried to lose weight a while ago was going well but then hit a stubborn zone so just being prepared really. Thanks for your support.
Hi, if you were overweight as a child, your body’s genes may be unprepared for the new you. As a result, the body goes along with the plan until it reaches a point of perceived no return. Once there, it does its best to preserve the status quo and will hang on to 𝐰eight. This is actually a REALLY exciting point in your weight loss because it means you’ve hit a stage of significant change. Of course it doesn’t feel that way. The best you can do to help your body is continue, eventually the body will stop protecting status quo and let go of 𝐰eight. You will then be free to lose until you reach what you want. At that point, to establish the new programme in your body (homeostasis) you may need to eat more for a couple of weeks. Your body will eventually realise that where you were (two weeks prior) is the new place it needs to stick to.
Then revert to lower calories (more nutrients) and you can maintain.
If you were overweight as a child, your body may relapse (your mind starts tricking you about food - cravings, excess etc.,) when this happens, remember that it’s the body’s way of asking you ‘are you sure this is the new weight?’ By resisting the cravings, you’re retraining the body. Eventually these little tests the body puts you through will cease. But give yourself a year or two of self-compassion with your body as it takes you on this journey.
(There are scientific terms for the above, yet explaining it in English is probably more useful).
Like all learning, it takes time. Be a patient and kind teacher and your body will learn.
Good luck.
Most of the advice here is good advice - and you can use several techniques simultaneously.
To get off your plateau, I recommend not eating all day - what they call "Intermittent Fasting":
