Hello everyone. Got about 5 stone to lose and the journey seems daunting. Keep starting and stopping and cannot seem to get my cravings to accept that I need to change my weight for my health. Even though I know it's bad, I do it anyway and start eating all the wrong foods, especially in the evening. I am hoping that joining here, I will be able to get tips and ideas, and follow other people's journeys. Wishing everyone here all the very best.

A Long Weigh to Go
Hi and welcome, LemonSherbert
If it's the cravings that are getting to you, then you need to change the type of food that you're eating. Carbohydrates, particularly those with a high GI/GL, will mess with your hormones, which will in turn keep you on this rollercoaster ride of over-eating. Check this out for an alternative phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...
Break your journey into small manageable chunks and concentrate on your health and well-being, before the number on the scales.

Hi I know what you mean, my kitchen closed sign goes up at 7pm lol would you like to join our Easter challenge to lose half a stone by easter (12weeks away) just post your weight on the Easter countdown post, its under pinned posts , good luck !
Hi LemonSherbert and welcome - you have taken the first step and this forum is amazing for help, support and motivation. I felt just like you a year ago. I felt helpless, out of control and very unhappy - but I came across the 12 week plan and just committed to doing the 12 weeks! I didn’t have much hope, but reckoned I could just stick it for that time and that fits so well with Lytham and the Easter challenge! Don’t think about the final target - I could not even start to put a final figure on it, still can’t really, all too overwhelming, but just take one day at a time. Good luck, we are all rooting for you
Hi LemonSherbert , I am new here too - although I did sign up a few years ago and then promptly forgot/lost interest.
I'm currently working towards an eventual total weight loss of about 3 stone, possibly more. However my current day-to-day focus is losing 14lb in the next 10 weeks - I find it easier to think about shifting 14 'little lbs' than one 'big stone'. I have already set out future targets which are as follows.
April 6th - Total loss of 1 stone (and hopefully dropped a dress size in time to go shopping to by myself a fab LBD for my friends 50th birthday masquerade party!
July - Total loss of 2 stone at which point I will reward myself by booking a holiday for the later part of the year (hopefully with the money I have saved by drastically cutting down my alcohol consumption due to my new change of lifestyle hehe)
September/October(whenever I have booked my holiday for will be the target) - Total loss of 3 stone.
At this point I will have a healthy BMI and I will re-evaluate if I want to lose any more weight for vanity purposes.
I have been sort of trying to lose the weight for about 4-5 years now and never really stick with it but have decided that this time is the one. I have spent the last couple of weeks figuring out what works for me - reading copious amounts of information on the internet and now scouring this forum for other peoples experiences.
I use an app to track my calorie intake and daily steps to roughly track energy intake/expenditure to check that I am creating a deficit. I have started C25k (for the 4th time) and tomorrow I will be running W3R1 - is this something you have considered?
I hope my waffling about what helps me helps you in some way! Waffling on does seem to help me as well - which is part of the reason I am now on here as I don't want to drive those I live with up the wall by constantly bleating on about my new improved healthier lifestyle
Best of luck with your weight loss journey!

Welcome to you ♥️
As regards eating at night, I find that I stop eating at 7pm and fast till breakfast the next day. I think of it as giving my stomach a rest.
Hope you find this tip useful 😍
Hi LemonSherbert, I can strongly recommend low carb high fat (LCHF) as a way of getting rid of cravings. For someone who for years had gone with the idea that low fat was healthy, I found it difficult to accept, but now I’m loving it. In fact, open tub of chocolates still on coffee table since Christmas and I haven’t had one of them and I’m not bothered :))
Google YouTube video “The Skinny on Obesity” especially episodes 3 and 4
The idea is that by going low carb (reducing the sugar and carbs that turn to sugar) you get your body back to working in a healthy way, and the weight loss will follow naturally.
If you’ve got a long weigh to go, then ride like the wind! Good luck.
