Hi all! Hope you are all well. This is my first post here having just joined. I’m a 42 year old man weighing 140kg. As my name suggests I have a goal to get to 100. I have been overweight all my life and since stopping playing rugby in my late teens the pounds piled on. I just love food!!! But as age creeps up I know I cannot carry on at this weight. I am determined to lose weight and I hope this forum will help. I’m very introverted and so no one in real life knows I am on here but I hope the anonymous support will help me in what is going to be such a hard journey! I look forward to getting involved in the community and supporting you all too where I can!

The biggest step is starting. Losing 40 kg is a significant piece of work but certainly do-able. The big goal I would suggest isn't the focus, it's just one kilo at a time (though hitting a big target like a 40 feels great). Good luck.
Welcome to the forum and I wish you good luck with your journey.
Hi, I just joined today but started trying to lose weight at Christmas. I have managed to go from 100 to 80 in that time so stay positive, it is totally doable just takes time. I got some withings scales and their app on my phone and an app that adds your calories. These help me to always keep thinking about losing weight and stay focused on reaching a healthy bmi. You will see positive results fast if you get on top of what’s going in!! Well done starting I found that the hardest thing.
You’ll do it! My aim is to lose 30kg. What steps are you taking in order to achieve your goals?
Hi! Good luck to you too. I am not a fan of all those diets that tell you to cut out this or that. Hate it. Instead I am going to try my hardest to do what we all know we should do! Eat better - ie less rubbish junk food and more veggies. Variety I think is key. On top of this I am starting couch to 5k to up my exercise. Let’s see how we go!
Your starting were i was, now im 92kg good luck you can do this x
Welcome. I’m in the middle of my journey, which has stalled slightly during lockdown, but reading and posting has meant I have not given up. Started C25k, which although it does not have a great effect on weight loss it improves my mental well being , which is what I need at the moment. So I would say go for it, this is the start of your new healthy lifestyle.
Well done on joining the forum!! I agree... this is a one step at a time kind of journey and as it is a long one, make sure it is enjoyable! You will learn so much about yourself and your body that you will be amazed and most of that through simply listening to what your body and mind have to tell you. Have a good first week!
Welcome to the forum!
What worked for me was starting out with the easy steps at first like cutting out junk calories. Once I started to see some results, it helped double my resolve to get more serious. I hope this works for you too.
Good luck!
I've put loads on and now back on the site. I've cut out alcohol completely for now and I am trying a Low Carb Healthy Fat diet rather than calorie counting. I've got on my bike. I am getting my fitness level back. I've been doing this three weeks now and lost 10 lbs (I'm an old geezer 66 ) I try and cycle every day just because I like cycling weather permitting. Good ride today it was windy so a real challenge cycling into head winds. I feel better for it already the more you lose the better you feel the more you are motivated. It's a long haul though I am anticipating at least six months before I can get back into my clothes that I was wearing before I started drinking loads of beer and eating high calorie foods. Good luck 100kg. I love rugby originally from Llanelli so a big Scarlets fan ! You can do it and you're doing it for YOU 👍🏉
Good on you, well done! I think exercise definitely will play a part and up until recently the weight has never impacted me - I’m pretty naturally strong (hence previous rugby career) and so carried it ok. However the last year or so I’ve really noticed I’ve started struggling. So I’m doing couch to 5k and really challenging what I eat. I just need to keep patient and remember that I won’t see impacts immediately but if I stick with it it will work. I can’t even imagine what being 100kg will be like so that’s a huge motivation. Good luck with your journey!
You too be interested to see how you go on 👍🏽
100kgtarget welcome. My best advice is to keep doing what needs to be done and not to be discouraged. A few years back I weighed 96kgs and I wanted to go to 85 but I was loosing like 200g and 400g per week. I was very discouraged because I had expected to just loose all the weight quickly. So I gave up because I thought I wasn’t making any progress. 5 years latter I was at 118 with prediabetes which was a wake up call. I started exercising again and those 400gran have now cumulated to 12.8kgs. I am still above hundred but now I feel I can achieve that. Just remember weight loss is cumulative and keep going. Good luck.
