I just got back from the doctor and was shocked that I have put on a stone and half in a year so it's a wake up call and I need to do something. I travel a lot for work which makes the temptation really hard to resist. Everyone on here seems so focused so I really hope I can do the same and achieve my goal. If anyone has any tips they would be gratefully received. Feeling quite alone and daunted by it at the moment.

Hi kk9147. I was in a similar situation to you about 8 weeks ago although I knew that over the last few years I had gradually got heavier. I decided I needed to do something and just by chance found this forum. So 8 weeks later and 12 pounds lighter I feel great and so pleased that I made the decision to take control and do something about my weight. Its been about re-educating myself and refinding my willpower and although the first 2 weeks were the hardest I have managed to stay within my calorie allowance almost every day. This forum is really what has kept me going. If I felt like I was going off track then I came on here and read a few posts. You never feel like you are doing this alone and no-one judges you. Best of luck and bit by bit you will get there
Have a look at our welcome newbies thread, which is full of handy hints to get you started. It can be found in the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen, along with several challenges that are designed to be motivating and fun
I'd like to invite you along to our monday group weigh-in too, which is really friendly, non-judgemental and supportive. You may join today, if you wish, or you can wait for Zest to post the new thread on monday morning. This is the link to last monday's, for you to have a read
Thanks will do the weigh in on Monday though I'm only starting today so not sure I will have progressed too far by then! I have ordered some new bathroom scales and a tape measure to do it properly! Calorie counting on my fitness pal and determined to regulate what I eat this weekend and do some exercise. Baby steps!
Small steps is the way to go 😊 Just a small reduction in daily calories and ten minutes extra exercise can build up to considerable weight loss and improving fitness 😊 Good luck!
