4 Ps - Preparation prevents poor performance

So I've signed up, got great pre-planning advice from people here to go to the BMI calculator. Thank you.

It says I'm 36.1 BMI and my calorie range is 1691-2175.

Immm. What should I go for? I thought the half way mark between the two would be 1933. But then I thought would that move the weight? But I'm in no hurry.

It says aim to lose 11lb. Is that to start? I really don't want to be too restrictive and it'll not be sustainable and I'll be miserable! And it's winter when your body eats more. But I don't drink alcohol.

So I've weighed in, took my body measurements. I've got a 50% off for pre-prepared meals that are 550 calories. Just for my first week. That'll keep me away from steak dinners and what my hubby eats!

I've got an index book to record the calories in my foods ordered, I'll use the calorie checker too. I've a food diary ordered too. It's nice with foxes on the cover. All set.

Just a few bits on advice on what I should go for in terms of calories per day to start. HELP?

You're thinking right. Don't be too restrictive and end up gnawing the furniture - or searching for "snacks".

It would make sense for you and your hubby to be eating the same, with you keeping a check on portion size and adding in extra veg in place of some of the potatoes/rice, for instance.

I think the 11lb will be to start with. Give yourself mini goals that make sense to you so you can see your progress. Don't get too hooked on the end point.

Should be fine. You can adjust as you go :)

Hi, Celticshe I think most pre-prepared calorie-counted meals will contain low-calorie substitutes: low-fat or trans fat, which is not good for you.

What brand have you bought, and what does it say about the ingredients, fat content etc.?

It's Go Fresh. I had them before. It's all fresh ingredients that you cook up at home. It's all about zero waste, the fresh ingredients are measured for the actual recipe and they give you the cards. It's very good. You actually tend to spend less on your shop! They're doing a deal at the moment.

Ooops! Hello Fresh. Nice stuff. Food you wouldn't eat normally. I don't like pre-prepared. Tasteless and don't fill. And not fresh.

Here's an example. I got fed up with them about 10 years ago because things were missing from the boxes. But with the special offer, I'm giving them another try. hellofresh.co.uk/recipes/sp...
