Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum jeffers74
First of all, to help you find your way around, and enjoy all the things we have on offer, please read the Welcome Newbies Post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Take your time to read it carefully as it has lots of useful information.
The best advice I can give is to eat enough. If you are following the NHS 12 Week plan then the 1400 calorie target suggested is a just generic amount, please check your own personal calorie target using the BMI checker, it’s often higher than you think. We always advise starting towards the top of the range, being hungry is the biggest cause of weight loss failure
I also highly recomend coming onto the forum regularly, daily if you can, reading posts and replying to others. Being part of a community is proven to help weight loss. Why not join our daily chat thread ‘What’s Happening Today?’
For your own privacy and safety online we suggest that you lock your posts by selecting ‘followers in my community’ when you write a new post. If you don’t do this, anyone can view your post via a simple google search. Please read our security post here. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Out of interest, can I ask how you found us?
Best wishes for your weight loss journey
Indigo 😊
Hello and welcome jeffers74
The first tip I'd give you is to follow IndigoBlue's advice and get a calorie range relevant to you from the NHS BMI calculator as the 1400 is a generic one. If you think about it, that information could be read by a 22 year old with 4 stones to lose, a 68 year old with 2 stones to lose and a 43 year old with 6 stones to lose. It doesn't make sense that they'd all have the same calorie requirements.
My second tip would be to put some time aside each day, 15 mins will do, to come here and read people's posts, join in, chat and encourage others and that will keep you focused and feeling part of this great community
Thanks, I did the BMI and it gave me 1400 , good idea about taking time out for sharing , thanks again 🙂
No, the NHS BMI calculator will give you a range (approx 400 from top to bottom) not a single figure. Give it a go again nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyw...
Ok so it was 1346 to 1744 ,
We'd generally advise starting towards the upper end so you have somewhere to go when you lose weight and need less. This will explain more healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Wishing you a good first week and I hope to see you around
