I weighed my self when visiting my mother a month ago - due to my sister's text saying she is back at her heaviest again - I jumped on the scales at Boots and was shocked so decided to diet. Yesterday after 4 weeks back to visit mum and a quick walk to Boots and back on the scales. Zero, Zilch, Nothing - on the plus side I had not put any on either - so now home, looking at the 'OneYou' site, flicking through my diet magazines and wondering just how hard can it be. Yes, I know the answer to that, really hard, otherwise there would have been a downward trend on the scales yesterday. Anyway, now determined, when I go back in another 4 weeks, it is going to be, a couple of pounds less. Would be interested in being an e-mail pal to anyone else in the same position. We can do it, we will do it.

Hello queen54 and welcome to the weight loss forum.
I don't know what eating plan you're going to follow. Many of us find the NHS 12 week plan gives us a great start (see the post immediately before yours). If you do, it's important you get your calorie range from the NHS BMI calculator nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyw... The 1400 figure you'll see is a generic one and suits very few of us.
You could start by joining today's weigh-in: take a few minutes to read other posts on that thread and give others a bit of support - it all runs on mutual support healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
To help you navigate the forum, we’ve put all the information you’ll need in a Newbie pack. Spend a few minutes reading this as it gives a full picture of the support and information available. Here's the link healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
We ask that you also read this important information about internet privacy and security, especially as you've left your post unlocked healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Wishing you all the best and hoping to see you around the forum
By the way, it would be interesting to know how you found your way to this forum
Good luck my friend. I know the feeling - I’m at the beginning as well.
I weigh in on Mondays and tend to use the daily diary more often than not. I’ve reached out for support when I’ve needed it and shared some joy when I’ve done something I’m proud of.
Having people to help you and hold you accountable is really important. If you want someone to message specifically I’m more than happy to do that with you but the big groups are very chatty and friendly. It is a case of you get out of it what you put in.
I feel fired up right now, but I know that when the stomach starts growling or I start getting bored that things will become difficult. I will try and use the site, computer time sometimes difficult as husband and I are like weather men, he on here, me watching tv, then we swop. I work, he is retired. But as they say, where there is a will, there is a way.
If you use the 12 week plan and go for the right calorie level as I mentioned above, there's very little chance you'll be hungry or have a rumbling tum. You don't have to be "starving" to lose weight, in fact it's counter-productive. Get three good filling meals a day, enjoy your food, try new recipes, make it a positive, enjoyable journey
Hi queen54. You have found a good place to help you, here.
I am on Week 11 of my WeightLoss Journey and I find this forum to be a wonderful source of support, information and inspiration.
I weigh-in on Tuesdays and look forward to seeing how everyone else has done each week. I stayed the same weight on 2 occasions, last Tues. was one of them..... I felt disappointed, but everyone was positive and cheerful, which lifted my spirits and kept me on track.
Good Luck.🍀
