Hiya everyone

I am looking for some new snack ideas as I’m bored of mine, I usually take to work a banana & handful of grapes for my morning break. The only other thing i can think of it celery sticks maybe with a bit of salad cream & cherry tomatoes

I am a bit fussy as i also looking for new dinner ideas quick & easy and others.

Usually mine are; Gammon, lasange, spaghetti bolognese, bbq chicken, slow cooker chicken chasseur.

I don’t like fish and not a massive fan of veggies!

Any ideas welcome

I have started taking to work some hummus to eat with my celery. If I fancy something sweeter, I have carrot batons with sultanas. Not everyone's cup of tea but I like it!

Afternoon Rach_912

It’s always a good idea to try new things and keep the eating plan fresh and intersting 😊

I tend to not have snacks as I prefer bigger meals, but have a look at the recipes in Topics section healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Nuts, cheese, hard boiled eggs, oatcakes, and cold meat are all good options for snacks though.

I also like the BBCGoodFood website, and have a look at the Hairy Dieters and Tom Kerridge, they both have loads of recipe ideas.

Hello darling, it's Betty here, an Ancient Hand at dieting and sticking to it - or not, in the past - so I'm here to suggest that banana and grapes is a rather sugary combo, and what you are saintly-saving on fats (although the banana is a fatty beast) you are more than making up for with sugar, without intending it. However, yonks of experience tell me that personally chewing on a lettuce leaf and a few seeds is miserable penury and you won't last two mins on that Peter-rabbit food, so your instinct for something interesting is GOOD - and if your going to stay off the office bickies, it's just got to be darned interesting, if not a little naughty - right?

For a mid-morning snack try some oat cakes spread with cream cheese - only a little naughty and heck, you need to be filled up mid morning so you don't stray elsewhere. Then also drop into that snack box a few dates. Yes, they have sugar but they are also full of nutritional goodies and the magic thing is their chewiness, and that's so important to a feeling of satisfaction for the mouth. Avoid any sugary drinks. If you don't like chilled milk (GOOD for you), go for a nice tea or even chilled water. The aim is to really look forward to that snack, and even achieve a few jealous eyes your way while you eat it!

A quick and delicious supper in the evening is two eggs fried in olive oil - don't listen to those who tell you oil is bad - lightly peppered, and then two pieces of good bread or toast spread thickly with avocado, instead of butter. This savoury supper dish is really filling and also good for you. Take the trouble to find some good, chewy fresh bread: once again, chewing is an important part of enjoying your food and feeling satisfaction. BTW if like me you find that it's sometimes diffy to find avocados that are ripe, buy two or three and put them one at a time in a plastic bag with that banana you usually eat. They will usually ripen overnight to a wonderful creamy texture.

So Good Luck, think savoury, think chewy, and enjoy! love Betty

Hi Rach. I've fallen in love with the carrot and Apple muffins from the recipes on here. A fabulous morning snack and very filling . You can change the Apple to maybe coconut or raspberry whatever and they are so easy to make . Xx

Plain popcorn. You can pick up a popcorn maker fairly cheaply. Even the sweet and salt packs you can buy aren’t calorific. I also buy quavers and Aldi’s pea and lentil snacks. Not typical diet food but I found keeping these in the car and eating a packet on the way home from work stopped me going crazy when I got in. I kept some in my desk drawer and it stopped me eating biscuits at playtime.

Not what you're looking for?
