HI,

Im currently waiting for a new hip replacement, hospital have asked me to lose weight, in 4 weeks ive lost 10lbs, however I feel I have massively changed my life style, no breads, choc etc, with me being on the plump side I would have thought id have lost it quicker, any ideas please?

Im drinking water

eating fish/chicken

Ive cut out carbs

No bread etc

Help, am I doing something wrong?

Hello and welcome Joanne :)

It sounds as though you are doing everything right. 10lbs in 4 weeks is spot on. We would suggest a 1lb to 2lb loss a week to be a good rate to lose at. Losing too quickly will only end in you regaining the weight again and maybe more in the future. Don't think diet, think healthy life style change that will be sustainable for the future. Well done on cutting the carbs. You may find that it would be helpful to add some good fats into your way of eating now.

Hidden I think most people trying to lose weight would be very pleased with that rate of loss - 10lbs in 4 weeks is over 2lbs a week! How much have the hospital suggested you need to lose and have they set a date that you need to do this by?

Well done on that weight loss and keep it up.

Thank you I will keep pushing on x

hello and a big well done, you should be chuffed with yourself, That is a good steady loss and I am thinking you may not be able to be as mobile as you would like. Keep doing what you are doing but mix it up a bit so you don't get bored, Remember, that is four weeks of not having gained more weight - win, win !

Can you walk a bit more or swim or cycle?

Well done on what you’ve lost so far and I do think that is a good rate. NHS 12 week program recommended to me upping protein and fibre to feel fuller. Good luck use this form!
