Hello welcome to the forum, I used the NHS 12 week weight loss plan to help with loosing weight and continued using it until I gained my target weight and been maintaining for over a year and still go to it for suggestions on eating out and alcohol when going out. Others find calorie counting difficult or time consuming and use other diets such as 5:2 and all its variations, blood sugar diet, WW and SW diets. there is no right or wrong way except to aim for 1-2lb per week weight loss and make sure you are not eating too little or too much. Have a look at the NHS BMI calculator to work out the number of calories you should be eating to loose weight and aim for the higher number. I used the generic one and found that ok but some people especially if they were used to eating a lot more than they should felt hungry and so ate snacks which are usually unhealthy so help with hunger pangs.
