BMI Calculator

Weighed myself for the first time in six months this morning and was shocked and depressed by the number I saw on the scales. I know I need to make changes which is why I'm here. Currently I feel depressed but determined to make changes.

I have a, probably silly, question though. I am slightly confused by the NHS BMI calculator. Is the calorie range it gives you one that should help you maintain your weight or lose weight? Should I aim for the lower end of the calorie range? How should this result be interpreted?

Thanks for reading this. I wish everyone well on their weight loss journeys.

The Admin always suggest starting near the higher end and take it from there. :)

Hi and welcome, Xseonaid

I ate at the lower end of the NHS BMI calories range to start with and didn't lose weight after advice on her I ate mid to high range and started to lose weight - hope that helps

Hi, Xseonaid I spent a couple of months on the default 1400 calories per day and lost next to nothing and even gained the week before last. Last week I upped my calories to 1700 and I lost 2lbs. The bmi calculator says that my lower figure should be 1802 so I’m going to try for that this week and see what the result is.

Good luck 😊
