I am obese. Tough to write but true.

I've lost 1 stone and 2lb so far on this health led journey. I feel better...much better for it.

So today, I put a 10lb loss into the calculator. In this scenario, I am merely 'overweight'.

10lb loss is my new target. Very doable. At my present rate, it will take about 3 months.

Becoming overweight is an awesome feeling, well done you. You clearly have the process down, just keep doing it. πŸ˜„

Thank you. Sounds so mad but so true. It'll take me some time but now I know I really want to do this.

I had 3 BMI targets: overweight, normal weight, and bmi-calculator-doesn't-scold-me weight.

If your BMI is between 24-24.9, the calculator says something like, "your BMI is in the healthy range, but keep an eye on it". You have to get below 24 before it let's you be.

Targets are good. Have as many as you can. Every stone and half stone (both your weight and how much you have lost), the BMI, clothes sizes, belt holes, waist measurements etc. Use them all, and tick them off as you get there.

This. I have a spreadsheet I put my weight into each week and every time I lose about 3lbs I hit a new target of some kind. I'm still a way off overweight, but like seeing the BMI numbers come (slowly) down.

Oh yes, I particularly enjoyed hitting the 'BMI calculator doesn't scold me' goal (11th June) and had 5 further 5kg goals in-between. Smalls goals are good, I find.

Oh my!! I've just seen your new badge! I hope you're not fading away! I'm only half kidding. Seriously, when are you going to be happy maintaining?

When I am bored with the new badge πŸ˜‚ Don't tell team admin yet, but I think I am done.

don't worry, I am still at the top end of my BMI range, and my waist isn't back to it's pre-menopause levels. I am still made of stern Irish peasant stock.

Tbh I couldn't give a toss about which end of the BMI you are. I'm trying not to think eating disorders etc. I'm not,and never will be extremist. A dietitian once tried to get me to the same weight I was when I was 20! It don't work!

I hope you feel good/well in yourself. A 20Kg badge is brilliant but not if the price is too high!xx

Subtle_badger profile image
Subtle_badgerβ€’ in reply toTheTabbyCat

I feel amazing. No, I don't have an eating disorder. I am only 1.5kg down from my 66.6 three weeks ago, and only 4.5 down from from the first time I dropped below 70kg 3 months ago.

Nothing extreme, more is the pity!

Thanks for your kindness, though.

Hi Princess! I've just slipped into the overweight! I keep forgetting to mention it with the Trimmers! I'm so chuffed. I'm sure you'll join me soon. It doesn't matter how long it takes, it's a number. What matters is how you, Portlandprincess, feel!

Hello, I’m the same, about 4.5 kg still keeps me obese - that’s about 10lbs I think. Would be nice to change categories at some point, it would be a big big achievement for me - I haven’t been there since 2011. All the very best and good luck with achieving your goals!

Well done I was the same when I put my weight into Nhs bmi was obese at 118 kg. Now a healthy 85.6 kg and a 4 inch smaller waist. You can achieve your target. I’ve just done my 3 mile walk Before a game of tennis at 8am. I find my energy levels have increased since eating more for breakfast then a healthy spaghetti Bol with turkey mince then normal dinner. I try to eat around 2700 calories a day and do a daily walk

Thank you for inspiring me. I'm still amazed that I'm losing weight at 2000 cals a day! Slowly but it is moving.

Have you put into a app that tells you how many calories you need a day.

Well done Portlandprincess, that is the way to go slowly but surely with weight loss then it is easier to maintain.

I did the NHS 12 week plan about 3 years ago wanted to get to 10 stone and have managed to maintain this weight.

Take care xx

Wow. I'm hoping that slow and steady will also mean I have less extra skin. It all seems doable at the moment.

Don't downplay your progress. I'm sure you'd have been delighted to see that many pounds out of the way when you started :)
