This my first post here on the weight loss nhs page. I need to lose weight for my health conditons and for confidence and self-worth! I had enough of being over weight has really made me depressed. I have been put on the nhs weight managment service at my GP surgery which is a start and i been told a low carb diet is my best bet for my health conditon. I have also purchased an exercise bike as i have no confidnence to walk in the gym so doing exercise at home is only way i can get it done

Welcome to the weight loss forum Abbyb . Sorry to hear you feel depressed about your weight, this is a fresh start now for you and you will find plenty of support from all the members here. I started by using a exercise bike doing 10 minutes a day and slowly adding 5 minutes every few weeks until I could do 25 minutes every day.

Good luck with your first week. :)

It is hard at the start but you will get there. I started at over 22st and lost 5st by just walking and exercise bike every day along with following the nhs 12 week plan. Just slowly increase it every couple of weeks and by summer it will be a normal routine for you. :)

Hello and welcome. This forum is so friendly and supportive, you have definitely come to the right place. Having the exercise bike at home is going to be a great start to getting fitter and with that you will feel more confident. Good luck for your first week xx

Great! Thank you really has got me a lot to think about, I will definitely write those 3 ways down. I really need to get my motivation again as my weight is a yo yo I did lose 5st once but carb attacks! got the better of me and I did give up for 2 years and just put it all back on! which has made my health spiral out of control and I am only soon to be 20 years old! weighing in at a shocking 18st !!! even though I don't look it! my health isn't the best now let alone when I'm 25 or 30 so I need to get it under control. my mental health has effected me.

I will message you if I have any questions and no doubt I will on my weight loss journey! thanks

abby :)

Keep using the forum, it helps to keep you on track. Also don’t worry if you fall off the wagon, just make sure you get straight back up & on it again.

Talking of which, I have put on some chocolate lbs over easter which I need to get off again....

Hello Abby 😊

I echo everything said by the others. It is my mindset that always lets me down and I’m hoping that by being a part of these fora I can stop myself from being overwhelmed by the task ahead of me. My ‘ideal’ weight range is so far below what I currently weigh that losing weight looks too hard. We’ll get there this time, I’m sure of it.
