I'm back after having major heart surgery last week. I won't be trying to diet for a while until I build my strength up but I thought I'd share something. I completely lost my appetite and have hardly eaten anything for the last six days. I came home yesterday and weighed myself this morning. I only lost three pounds which proves that very low calorie diets don't work 😄

At the risk of sounding contrary, at a basic level the maths goes something like this...

To burn 3lbs takes 10,500 cals. Over 6 days that's a deficit requirement of 1750 cals per day. Assuming you weren't in that much deficit then some of the loss could be explained by a loss of water.

I was probably having less than 500 calories a day as I just couldn't face food. Mainly I ate jelly!

That kind of adds up then... as much as our bodies ever make sense

I'd like to eat more jelly but I hope you're able to eat more healthily now.
