Pineapple27 here, co-ordinating the weigh-in post for today. I host the Monday Weigh In thread on a fortnightly basis.
The picture above is my greenhouse last year - I love it! It's spacious enough for me to sit and work at the benches, which makes gardening with a disability "doable". You can spot my little stool there warming in the sunshine. I'll come onto more about the garden later on in my post.
Whatever your results are on the scales today, please do share them with us if you would like to. We are here to support one another on our journeys; if you’ve fallen by the way side, there is always someone to offer a hand to help you back up, dust you down and get you back track. If you’ve had a loss this week, we all want to celebrate that with you!
With that in mind, we ask that everyone respond to at least one other member, ideally the person directly ahead of you on the thread. This is a bare minimum, so feel free to cheer on as many people as you wish, on as many days as you like! Nobody complains about a bit of praise!
It would make things so much easier for us, if you could state your weight today, how much weight you've lost/gained/maintained this week and your goals/plans for the week ahead.
Other than that, feel free to share any details of your week that you like.
This is how you report today's weight:
Last week I weighed ____, this week I weigh ____, that's a loss/gain/maintain of _____
(Add a few words about your week and your aim for the following week, any struggles you might be experiencing and any other useful tips that have helped you to have a successful week.
Welcome all Newbies! If you're joining this weigh-in group for the first time today – WELCOME!! Please introduce yourself and share your starting weight and your initial weight loss goals. Setting yourself mini-goals, leading to your ultimate weight loss goal, is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements this might help you in the future if you find the scales are not being kind. Sometimes loss shows as inches rather than pounds or kilograms. Keep that tape measure handy!
If you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack, which is a Pinned post (situated on the right hand side of the homepage, or scroll right down to the bottom, if you're using a mobile).
What is planned this week? Well of course, I am sure we are all suffering slightly from that hour of sleep that we lost last night (those of us in the UK). Next weekend is Easter weekend, so it might help you to plan how you’re going to cope with the additional family gatherings, social occasions and… any chocolate eggs that may come your way?
My plan had been to go use the anti-gravity treadmill this morning. However, I have managed to injure one of my knees, so have had to re-arrange. Nothing serious, just a pulled or strained ligament which isn’t going to serve me for a fast 30 minute walk.
This week we have plans to visit some local garden centres to start buying and planting vegetable seeds. I LOVE the approaching Summer and love to spend time out in the garden as the weather permits. I am looking forward to regular threads about how we work out in our “green gym” here in the site.
Please share your plans for the week ahead. Anything that poses a threat or a challenge to your success?
Please only use this thread if you're weighing in on Monday 26th March 2018.

Thanks for hosting Pineapple27. Good to see a photo of a sunny garden and greenhouse - bit of cheer to start the week.
Last week I weighed in at 11st 4lb, having gained 1.5 lb
This week I weigh 11st 4lb
That's a STS
I've maintained, but I have to say I'm getting pretty frustrated at my slow rate of loss. I have been sticking to the diet and exercise. I am howerever 51 and perimenopausal, so I've heard losing can be slower. Any tips?
Going away for Easter for a short break and family party, so could be quite challenging, however I will pack my running gear and exercise mat!
Have a great week everyone and good luck with the weight loss! x
You'll need to log onto the Daily Diary, Jayne, so that we can see exactly what you're eating, to be able to help you. Weight loss is more about diet, than exercise.
It is so frustrating when the scales don’t cooperate! Im facing the same issue, so this week I’m going to try to eat sensibly between 12 noon and 8pm and stick to water, black coffee and tea outside those times. Just to shake things up for a week to see if that makes a difference. Roll on 12 o’clock 😂
chin up doll, it will happen if you work it. are you drinking enough water? I can say for certain I am not! I am 51 and in the same state as you so I understand completely. I think with night sweats and hot flashes I am losing a ton of weight! not really but it sounded good. I find that I have to eat something several times a day or my blood sugar goes down. I rely on fruit to keep me away from chocolate and I am now trying to up my exercise level. it sounds like you have the exercise down. I agree with moreless, write down what you eat and when and it will point you in the right directions. good luck!
It is so hard to keep going when you stay the same but as a veteran stay the same person (and no I'm not maintaining I just fail to stick to it quite often) my thinking is that I'd rather stay the same than go up. And if you instead compare your weight today with what it would be if you'd bit done an that hard work you might be very glad. Think of it as consolidating your previous loss
I think what has been particularly frustrating is that I lost half a stone in the first month and was thinking "I've got this". If I was hungry and nibbling away on snacks I would understand it, but I'm not. I'm not doing anything different from the first month and not even hungry between meals!
I'll head over to the Daily Diary - thanks, Moreless
OK, that's me back to my 'sticky' weight - that's the one I struggle to get below and certainly don't want to go above. Not good about that knee Pineapple27 hope you make a speedy recovery - love the greenhouse. This week I'll be doing my 5K runs T/Th/Sat and my little strength routine on W/F. Hopefully, some work in the garden if the weather stays fine. I've got three polytunnels to recover and leeks, spring onions and some flowers seeds to sow. I sowed chillies at the beginning of the month and they are only now showing signs of germination. Off out to Limoges shopping - we were up before the larks this morning! I'll pop back in later in the day. Hoping everyone has had a good week
No new skirt for me moreless the grey one I wanted was only available in size 40 and above...I already have a black one in a size 38 (UK 10). Long time since I couldn't find something small enough to wear! Yesterday spring - today back to WINTER looks like it will have to be indoor seed sowing not polytunnel covering
Well done with losing that pound Mochta. I know exactly how you feel - sometimes it feels like you are getting nowhere but stick to it and those pounds will disappear eventually.
Good morning everyone and thanks for hosting Pineapple27.
My weight last week was 10st 11.6
this morning I weigh 10st 13lbs
so a gain of 1.4lbs.
I’m gutted! I’ve done my usual sessions at various gym classes with the exception of Friday’s classes because I felt really inexplicably tired this week. I don’t think I was so focused on what I was eating and certainly on Saturday night had a full three course meal which is something I can’t remember doing for years. Oh well, a minor setback. I will need to get back in the zone this week.
You are very focused Mission17 so I am sure you will be on the downward trend again very soon. I am a similar weight to you so I know how hard and slow it is. I also put on 2lbs recently but have lost a little today so hoping it was just a blip. Am going away for my friend’s 70th nxt week so have got to try to be sensible.
Sounds like a simple case of the weight reflecting the recent splurge which, not to be too gross, probably still hasn't been processed - so to speak! So I say keep going - you are doing so well and next week you may find the scales more reflective of your hard work. Look to the long term. You ARE getting there.
Lovely pictures on your posts if your garden. I have not started yet am going to this week. My husband has started his vegetables so I must tidy up the ‘pretty’ end.
Morning Pineapple27, I’m struggling to keep up with everything at the moment, here, MFP and social media! But I will continue my weigh in 😊
Last week 214.6 lbs
This week 211.8 lbs
Loss 2.8 lbs
Overall loss 23.2 lbs (so close but so far 😊)
I’ve had a good weekend and I’m currently on week 7 of C25K! I might be slow but when I jogged for 25 minutes, no walking, I couldn’t stop smiling at the end!
Hope everybody else had a good week!
P.s I will be eating chocolate next weekend, it has to be done! Hopefully not my body weight but I can’t make any promises 🤣
Congratulations you are doing so well! Be careful of those Easter eggs. I find if I don’t succumb I am fine but if I take one piece of chocolate, it triggers something and then it is carnage 😂 have a great week!
Lucy020679 that's a super weight loss...given the amount I initially thought it was your first week but then saw your overall weight loss Huge poms poms shaking for 25 minutes of jogging NO walking...it doesn't matter how slow you go as long as you don't walk I still get goosebumps when I think of my first 20 min in wk 5 how daft is that! A bit of choccy mind - you will want to see a loss next week
Yes yes yes to the weght loss of course but even more to the binning of guilt. It's a destructive emotion that brings nothing but problems. Glad you have said goodbye to it!!!
I am not disappointed with this loss as although I have been very active They have been a couple of days where I have indulged in the wrong food. Hoping for a bigger weight loss this week both little ones have come out on the other side of their chicken pox so I can sleep and won't need a pick me up.
1kg is 2.2lbs, Femb! Any more loss than that, per week, is not likely to be fat loss, but more likely to be muscle loss, which will result in less fat loss, in the future! Your losses are more than enough!
Lush photo Pineapple 27! And thank you for hosting.
My weight last week was a maintain at 144.4lbs.
My weight this week is a gain, at 144.8lbs
so up 0.4lb.
I upped my calories to 1600-1800 per day but it hasn’t has the desired effect🤣🤣. So today is day 1 of week 7 and I’m going back down in cals. Had 3 good trips to the gym in the last week, and plan the same for this week. Happy weigh in everyone ! Bestest SunnyDay18
Expecting a better result after just one week of upping your calories, just isn't realistic, SunnyDay. Your body needs time to readjust and trust you not to start starving it again, which is just what you intend doing!
4 ounces is nothing!!! That's just a quarter of a pound!
Stick with it for a bit longer and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. A change for life, not a diet!
Hi SunnyDay2018, don’t be put off by a minor setback, it happens to us all. You’re doing all the right things and going down in calories this week is a good idea to see what the results are next week. Have a good week and stick with it 🌻😊🦋
Sorry to hear about your small gain but don't forget the scales give a better picture over a longer period. There will be ups and downs and it sounds like with your exercise in place you'll have enough of the happy hormone to weather these storms and keep going for the long game!
Good Morning Pineapple, love the picture - it’s making me feel I should go out in the garden today to do a bit. However, first things first -
Last week weighed in at 9st 10 lbs
This week weighed in at 9st 10 lbs
So a STS.
I don’t mind this as when I first started to lose weight at the New Year I was 10st 8lb (pre coming on the Health Unlocked forum). I had a BMI of 26.2 and it’s now 24. My waist was 32 inches and is now 29 and my hips are 38 inches and were 41 inches so I am really pleased with how it’s all going. I don’t want to lose a lot more weight just a bit would be nice but I think when you get older it can make you look a bit stringy if you’re too thin. I have now learned what to eat and it has changed the way I make food choices. We went out to eat at an American Diner last night (not our choice!) and there were only two dishes that appealed to me and I had the salmon while everyone else was gnawing into ribs and things with piles of chips and sauces to go with it , errrgh yuk. Anyway god luck everyone today - stick at it and you will win through. 🙂🌼🦋👏
Hi RachDawson, yes this is the first time I have been able to stick to a weight loss program because I’ve converted my thinking to it being a healthy way of eating not a ‘slimming diet’ and it really has sunk in this time that this is the way forward for life and not just a quick fix diet to lose weight in the short term.
I hope you find good replacement habits for your boredom moments.. I love to dance and imagine a song in my head and have a little dance and drink water when I feel the munchies calling my name..
Hi Tiggywinkle15, Good luck with your journey. We’re all here to support you and hope you enjoy being on the forum. You’re so right about the biscuit and crisp habit. It’s what caused me to put on unwanted weight over the years and it is taking time to shift and it will slowly go I can assure you if you stick with it 👍🌞🌺
Hello Tiggywinkle15 - I'm sure that you'll get the results that you want with this programme. It's fantastic! I, too, used to (note the past tense!) snack between meals with poor choices of 'snack'...these days I have a few 100-ish calorie snacks to hand & I've honestly found over the past 10 weeks that I prefer healthy between meal bites to biscuits/crisps/cake/chocolate. Good luck!
Hello there and welcome. I'd like to think here there will be some ideas for how to spend time to battle that boredom. I love a good book but I need to get out more and increase the exercise. I know there will be limits for you but there might be new hobbies just around the corner to take your mind off the snacks. Plus when things don't go well you'll have great support and help here.
My top tip for now would be come on here when you are bored and tell everyone on the What's Happening thread. Then keeping up with all the comments and suggestions will while away a very happy half hour or more!!!
Welcome Tiggywinkle15 and look forward to having you aboard for the Monday Mass Movers. Please do make good use of the Forum - it's a wealth of information and support!
What a gorgeous oasis of peace & tranquility you have to enjoy in your garden, Pineapple27! Thank you for hosting today's weigh in.
Last week I weighed 12 stone 4.5 lbs
This week I weigh 12 stone 3.5 lbs
That's a loss of 1 lb
The past week I spent a few days in England, caught up with some friends & family & there were, of course, additional calories taken on board. So to have lost 1 lb was a pleasant surprise. And now I'm back home, I can get back on track. With the clocks going forward an hour, the evenings are lighter - hopefully the weather will be kind enough to make a start on the garden - I aspire to Pineapple27's green fingers!
Well done4n9el14, that’s great. I agree about the clocks going forward and lighter evenings. You feel more energised somehow and ready to do more and be more active. Good luck for the next week 🌻👍
Hello Pineapple27 Loved the picture. Looking forward to the sunshine.
Last week I weighed 24st 4Lbs.
This week I weighed 24st 2Lbs
Thats a loss of 2Lbs .
I am staying focused getting in some movement and exercise. I thought I would have lost more as I had put in so much effort into what I ate but I looked at the 2 weeks I have been doing this and the total loss is 5Lbs so hay ho swings and roundabouts...and one day I hope to be able to go on them . Good luck everyone keep smiling x
Your post made me laugh-thank you. You have made a great step forward today and even though it wasn't everything you hoped it's certainly significant and getting you where you want to be.
Good morning Pineapple, thanks for hosting. How joyous it is to wake up at last to a light, bright and sunny Monday.
Last week I weighed 11st 9lbs.
Today I weigh 11st 6lbs.
Loss 3lbs
This is week 11 of my weight loss and I have now lost 2 stones whitch I reckon averages just over 2lbs a week. I am delighted, thank you for the inspiration I get from this forum. At this stage I feel so positive which I have never done at a slimming club.......and it's all free !!! 😊😊😊
Wow Dotty what a brilliant result. to lose steady is wonderful for the body, no shocks, so a huge well done, and it motivates everyone here aswell, keep up the good work.
What a fantastic result 😃 well done!! 👍👍👍 you must be really pleased with a two stone loss in less than three months that amazing. I hope you have another fab week for the week ahead 😊🍀
Good lord, Dottydm , 2stone in 11 weeks. Envy making! And such a steady loss too! Success is yours. I'm afraid I've nothing compare. For weeks I went up, and up until I reached 14 stone. Today however I have come down . 13st 10.5lb. A loss of 4.5lb. However, it's taken a bacterial chest infection to do it so I don't really trust it. Oh well, Spring is coming soon.
Oh Lizzie stick with it. It has taken me a long time to reach this goal. Last year I put over 2 stones on and went right up to 13.6. I am so very guilty of giving up when I had a gain. You should be proud that you are so determined to lose weight regardless of the set back. I can see that you have lost this week and it's a good start, I am sure you will continue this.
Hi there Shelagh56 and welcome to Monday Mass Movers! Well done for the measurements - these can be invaluable in weeks to come when the scales aren't moving as quickly as you'd like them to.
Please feel free to ask away with any questions you have here on the boards and someone will always come along to offer support / guidance.
Good Morning everyone, I am sinning here, I have green house envy, Pineapple yours is beautiful. I have started my veg seeds off at allotment and ran out of space. Hope you knee gets better soon.
Start weight 11st 5.5
last weigh in 10st 3.5
This week 10st 2.25
A loss of 1.25lb, happy with that, 10 stone mark on the horizon. Good luck everyone.
A really big loss well done. So many green fingered gardeners I feel out of place. Mine has had virtually nothing but grass and a fruit tree for 15 years. Poor neglected space! Best wishes with your coming week
Thank you for hosting Pineapple27 and what a lovely photo!
My weight last week was 100.6kg
and my weight this week is 100.7kg
so a gain of 0.1kg
It's frustrating how close I am to being below 100kg so gaining is a bit disappointing but then again I am not surprised at all! I was very lax on what I ate and I went out drinking on saturday night so I am actually glad it's only a small gain!
This week I shall be focusing more on eating healthier food and drinking more water and no alcohol. I also bought a new workout outfit so I am excited to go to the gym later!
I find that a lot of people have trouble getting over certain "barriers" - like the 100kg or a new number when they're counting in stones! I'm sure you'll get there next week.
Hi Pineapple27 , thanks for hosting. After a brilliant week last week (3lb loss), not such a good week now. A lot of work, meaning no time to plan meals and think about shopping lists.
Last week I weighed 19st 3.0lb
This week I weigh 19st 4.4lb
Gain: 1.4lb.
It's still 9.6lb less than at the end of January!
I've got a busy three weeks coming up, lots of work, going to the in-laws for the second half of the Easter weekend and then a short trip to Glasgow in the second half of the school holiday. I will be weighing in on Sunday for the next two weeks and will be back here on 16th April. A loss would be brilliant, but I would be happy with a maintain.
Very busy today, so don't have time to keep coming back to encourage my fellow Monday Mass Movers (much as I would like to).
Fingers crossed for a maintain, while you're dashing about, NewMe and thank you for taking the time to support and encourage others, while you were here, that means a great deal!
We've all got a tummy bug and I seem to be the only one I know who gains weight with a tummy bug. I just seem to feel chip butties are the way to go. Happy enough to have maintained. Hopefully the weather will continue beautiful and I can go for some lovely walks towards the end of the week.
Good Morning Pineapple 27. Love your greenhouse, I too love being out in garden, however we have a paved yard, which we can't change, so I have covered it with pots, climbers and hanging baskets, which keeps me fit lifting and moving 😆
So this week I have managed to stay the same, yay! I weigh 13 stone 9 pounds.
The coming week is going to be tricky, we have 2 birthday celebrations and Easter Sunday, so I am going to try and sts, by doing a bit more exercise and making good choices. Above all else I am going to enjoy the time with my family and if I do put a couple of pounds on try not to beat myself up about it ☺
Good luck everyone I hope the scales have been kind 🌹
Congratulations on a maintain, I think chocolate Easter eggs may be a challenge for everyone. I've put mine on top of my kitchen cupboard so I have to ask someone to get it for me - meaning I can look at it longingly, but even if I'm tempted to eat it, I can't reach it. Perhaps I should do this with all my treats?! Good luck with the weight loss this week.
Oh yes lots of watering! Some of mne look sorry for themselves, however some may come back, so don't discard then too soon x
Good morning everyone - and thanks to Pineapple27 for hosting and for inspiring us with the photo of her garden and greenhouse! I have a gardening day planned for today - not that we have very much to do, I have a courtyard with pots and a few shrubs so a day to tidy up and then a day later on to replant the annual tubs for a bit of colour - but I do make up for it by being part of our village 'in bloom' team!
I am weighing in at on or about the same today
I started way back in September '17 at 8st 13.6,
last week I was 8st 6.8,
today 8st 7.2 - so up a tad 0.4lb
BUT yesterday OH and I went to have lunch with our old landlady - now a venerable 93 - and her daughter. So a drive into London (first time for me!!) and then a lovely lunch and chat!! Such a lovely day. we saw our old attic flat - somehow looks much larger but very little has changed in 40 years!! Fabulous view across London to Canary wharf and then the South Downs - the flat is at the top of Highgate Hill!!
So, all in all not a bad week and a lovely Sunday!!
Hope everyone else has a good day today with kind scales and sunshine.
I'm sure with the gardening you will soon shift that small gain. I too have a courtyard and I find lifting and planting pots is great exercise. Have a great week ☺
Thanks for hosting Pineapple27 . This week I've stuck to my calorie limit every day except Saturday when I ate out, but the amount of walking I've done this week seems to have made up for that as I still lost a pound.
Last week: 12s 9lb
This week: 12s 8lb
Lost: 1lb
Very happy with that - I expected a maintain or gain, so happy to be a tad lighter on the scales this morning. However, will have to resist the allure of Easter Eggs on Sunday - if I receive any more, they may all end up on top of my kitchen cupboard so I can't reach them and then I have to ask for them to be taken down, one by one, so I can't over-indulge in one go. Good luck with the weight loss efforts this week everyone
hehehe love the easter egg strategy! I might employ that one as I'm fairly short and can't reach the top cupboards! Good luck on the week ahead and well done on the loss!!
This is my first day here - just finding my way around.
I weigh 198 llb, (can't change my digital scale to stones!) I think thats 14st 2?
Various injuries have meant 4st increase over the last 13 years and I have spent a fortune on WW and SW and not stuck to it for more than a week!
Hoping to eventually lose the lot but 1/2st goals at a time. So do I post on this thread every week how i'm getting on? Joined a running group and went for the first time today so going to make sure this is last bloomin time I have to think about losing weight!
You can post in pounds only, if you wish, as long as you stick to the same thing, to make life easier for Rose, when she does the stats
Log on here every Monday, regardless of whether you'v lost, gained, or maintained. The support you'll receive will help in every circumstance. By the same token, please respond encouragingly to your fellow Mass Movers, as we all like to be supported
Success is yours for the taking, enjoy your new, healthy lifestyle
Hi LisaMarie - welcome from another relative newbie. You'll soon get a contact from the admin team on here, they are really helpful.
Your story almost mirrors mine! Except my knee injury will never let me run again. I've moved to the half a stone at a time plan, just reached my first one - so I hope it works for you too!
Welcome lisamarie01 and look forward to getting to know you a little better over the coming weeks. I think you'll find yourself in good company here - my own weight went up rather a lot after a serious road traffic accident / leg injury.... BUT less mobility just means less food I have realised! You may find it helpful to read some of my past posts where I share what my journey has involved:
what a lovely pic! I wish I had a green thumb but unfortunately I cannot even grow a cactus here in the desert! I am very excited to say however that I am down from
Start weight 268lbs
246 last week to
242 pounds this week!!
4lbs lost
Total loss 26lbs
I bought a fitbit? or a step counter anyway and yesterday I managed 2500 steps! not bad for a stand in one place kinda girl I am at work anyway. I am down about 16 pounds since I came back about 3 months ago and I am thrilled. I am not sure where I lost it (my behind I think) but nevertheless it is gone! I am having an apple with peanut butter for breakfast and as far as the rest of the day.. hard to say. I did not plan ahead as I worked until 11pm sunday night and am going to work at 7am this morning Monday so I am a bit brain fuzzy. probably some nice fruit and cheese for lunch anyway.
I love my FitBit katy9617 !! I regular day is 3,000 steps for me (I'm also a stand in one place kind of a girl!) but yesterday my gardening session (3 hours 45 mins) clocked up 8.000 steps! PLUS 651 calories (which is even better - meant I could "repay" my over indulgences the two proceeding days and start Monday without having a negative calorie allowance!
So last week I got myself properly started with the NHS 12 week plan, I already dip in & out of MFP - but the discipline of complimenting the two together is working just fine for me. I'm the queen of order and lists - lol
When to a foodie festival yesterday, made some good/bad choices - but shared my meals and added extra walking & dancing into the day to get some balance back...
Last week I weighed 13st 9lb
this week I weigh 13st 6.5lb
that's a 2.5lb loss this week
This is a 7.5lb loss overall
Feel great to achieve my first goal of half a stone... as I said last week the "mini-mini goal" is obviously to maintain this loss - next true goal - get down to 13 stone
Good luck everyone, hope you all have a successful week and a good balance over the Easter weekend holiday!
Good morning. Wish my greenhouse was as neat and tidy! Didn't get it sorted last year at all.
Last week I weighed 14st 9lbs -
this week I weigh 14st 8lbs,
that's a loss of 1lb.
I have also lost another 1/2" from my waist.
Not the best week for me with attending a funeral and then hearing about a tragic loss in our community. So a couple of cake moments, however I'm gradually introducing vegetables back into my diet and drinking loads more water. My daughter gave me a water bottle for Mother's Day - it has the hours marked so you know where you are. Refill it by 2 p.m. and finish by 8 p.m. so you're not up all night!
I like the present, sounds very thoughtful. Well done on the loss on the scale and the tape measure, always a nice feeling!! Good luck for the week ahead!
Thank you for hosting Pineapple27 I agree your greenhouse looks very warm and inviting I planted a few of my indoor seeds this week
I decided to change from kgs to stones and llbs
My weight last week was 77.7kg
My weight this week is 12st 3llb STS
To be honest, I have been a little half hearted an attitude of 'oh well what's the point '
However I am engaged this week, despite Easter. I run a chocolate company and it is important to me to have a healthy image whilst talking to my customers . A large fat woman droning on about how chocolate can be good for you loses its impact unless I show how .
Its not the chocolate (70% a few squares ) its cakes wine, alcohol, biscuits ,ice cream , sweets. etc so moderation is my watchword.
Furthermore I am currently in training to teach healthy eating on behalf of NHS Scotland. The idea is to learn how to prepare and create healthy meals aimed primarily at youngsters however I may encourage older men to participate all of this is an incentive to ' do as I do not do as I tell you'
Well done on your perseverance - particularly if you're around chocolate all day :), but you sound like you manage it well, not sure if I would! My husband is a sourdough baker and there are always breads and pastries around, but I run most days in order to eat pastry, haha. Good luck with the week ahead, I'm sure the half lb will be gone by next weigh in!
May I ask why you've decided to change from kgs to lbs? Do your scales weigh in kgs, or stones and pounds, highlandwoman? If you're weighing in kgs, then when converting to pounds, there will, always be some discrepancies.
My calculation for 77.7kg, is 12st 2.94lbs!!!
If you're making the change permanent, then make sure your scales are weighing in stones and pounds and we'll say you've STS, at 12st 3lbs
That must be hard with all that chocolate around. You certainly sound like you understand healthy eating and eating in moderation. I know how hard it can be to put it into practice. Be strong this week.
Oh, Pineapple27 I am loving the greenhouse photo - so warm and lush - I do miss summer very much! I have been prepping our veggie gardens all weekend actually, which definitely counts as a green gym activity as I've been taking turf off with a spade! By the summer I shall look like the hulk... :).
As for the weigh-in this week:
Last week I weighed: 151.6 lbs
This week I weigh: 151.4 lbs
That is a: (wee) loss of .2lbs!
Last week I was focussing on changing my snacking/treats to just dark chocolate - which worked well for the most part! There were three exceptions in the week, once where I just simply forgot about the snack focus (and had churros as we were out for a meal - but I had allotted in within my calories for the day ). Then twice yesterday, where I did a big training run in the mountains, so felt I had 'earned' the flapjack and milk chocolate I ate, which were both also within calories!
Although I wasn't infallible this week with the goal, it has served as a big eye-opener of how many snacks can sneak in.... and to realise the difference of snacks being a genuine treat, or snacks being a way to binge/avoid emotions/ fill a hole.
Wishing everyone luck this week --- may the sunshine long continue on our steady march towards summertime.
Love churros mistymtnhop333 - but ooohhh dread to think of the calories they contain! Well done on the loss. Love the sound of your mountain run!
Glad you are finding that the calorie counting is working for you - and yes, planning is key. Always good to know the calories in something BEFORE it is consumed!
My husband picked up a steak pie for one earlier this week when we were in the supermarket. Over 600 calories!!! Just for one pie. He put it back, and instead he has a small individual quiche (still about 400 calories...) - he's not overweight though, and a bloke and a foot taller than me!
I'd never had churros before, they are so good! Full of calories though, so good to pace yourself with them. My husband is trim and tall too - and since he's French, eats a lot of butter and pastry, and of course, doesn't gain an ounce. Not fair, is it? Hey ho, at least we can have the moral high ground, or something like that....
Hello mistymtnhop333 you sound so active! Snacking is so difficult to curb....I think my mind plays tricks & tells me they are good for me! You’re spot on about the emotional side to snacking too.🌼 Have a good week ahead.
I love your greenhouse, such a beautiful place to relax! I just put up my first post after two years called 'Newbie returning after 2 years and having a baby'. I'm happy to be back on this forum, I'm currently at week 0 weighing in at 13 stones, looking forward to reporting in next week with some positive news! Good luck everyone! Sugar-Plum x
Yes well done on not gaining even if it is frustrating to not lose anything if you’ve been trying really hard all week! I hope the scales are kinder to you next week 🍀
Wish I had been trying all week. I'm not very good at this but what I have noticed now after 7 months is that coming on here almost every week has kept me from being too wayward!
Hi ChoosingLife . You’re doing so well sticking at this.....it’s not easy! This forum certainly keeps us on the straight & narrow. Have a good week ahead 🌼
Wow xvanillaskyx what a goal and so within reach now. It’s very difficult when we’re busy but we’ve got to stick at this. You’ve come so far & been such a great support to so many of us. Have a good week ahead 🌼
Thanks Hidden I've been hovering around 142 lbs for weeks now that makes my BMI 23.6. Am now thinking maybe as I'm coming up to 64 I might not want to go any lower? Maintaining is SO much trickier than losing the bloomin weight!
Thanks for the snapshot of your greenhouse - it's a promise of summer. I'm going out to do a bit of hoeing - it's like proper gardening but a lot easier! It's a lovely bright day in Cullercoats but with a cool wind. Still - the sun's out and we're in the north so I've got my long shorts on!
Here's the deets:
Last week - 14 stone 12
This week - 14 stone 10
Lost 2 pounds but it is my first week weigh-in!
I'm going to try and do my local gym challenge this week - which is to burn 2,400 calories (the amount in a large Easter egg) by Sunday. My Monday morning swim (an hour) I'm told burns around 500 calories - so I've started.
Yes - I like the SOUND of burning the calories - and swimming is very enjoyable but I'm going to the gym tomorrow morning - let's see how long it takes me to burn 500 calories there!
Hi there Sade12 and welcome to Monday Mass Movers weigh in. Looking forward to sharing your journey with you - do shout out if you have any questions or need some support!
Pineapple27 thanks for hosting. Just off the plane from Valencia but lots of walking this weekend. Jumped on the scales before I left and -1....whoo hoo.
Wowza Scotslass13 - that is amazing! Valencia is somewhere I fancy visiting one day. I've heard it's very beautiful! Hope you're coping with the reduction in temperature ok...!!
I've probably lost more than that but forgot to weigh BEFORE breakfast as I usually do so this is my weight plus breakfast and two drinks. Hopefully I will remember next Monday to weigh first thing so I should a bigger loss.
I have also lost an inch from my waistline since I began which is good. No change elsewhere yet. Will measure again next month.
No temptations over Easter as far as I know so no excuses for next week.
I realise initial weight loss is usually partly water based, hopefully I can get into a steady 2lb a week weight loss now - eating well, moving more every day and looking forward to a Summer carrying a lot less weight around.
Wow Brummiegal - that is amazing! I always thing of 7lbs = newborn baby!! So that really makes you see how much weight you've lost in your first week.... I lost the equivalent weight of 9 newborn babies on my journey!
Thank you all so very much for your support, I really appreciate it. I am checking out recipes and menus and really enjoying being here and part of it all. So many like minded and friendly people, I am so glad I found you - all the very best to everyone.
Hello George 56, Thank you so much for your caring post. I have learned the lesson in the past about starvation diets, and I will never go down that road again. I do make sure i hydrate well, and who knew I would enjoy drinking water so much haha. It is lovely seeing the lighter evenings and the Sunshine - Spring is hiding just round the corner, and I am more than ready to welcome it with open arms.
I am sorry to her you have been immobile for a while - if it was through illness then I truly hope that you are all better now, and on the road to excellent health. I have a long journey ahead of me, but I am feeling much more confident about completing it now that I have this site and the lovely people I am finding here.
Hello everyone again, onto the start of my third week of the weight loss plan, not too happy with last week but after 1.8kg loss in my first week means i'm 2kg down in two weeks which I am happy with! Had a couple of off days, and didn't get to the gym half as much as I did the previous week so in a way i'm surprised I lost anything at all. Realised i'm a bit of a comfort eater, which with my depression and anxiety isn't really all that helpful as find i'm in need of comfort eating quite a lot so working on cutting that out and/or replacing with healthier alternatives to keep to my calorie goal.
Many of us turn to food for comfort, rodgers, the trick is to recognise the warning signs and find comfort in a different way, so if you're anxious, bored, lonely, angry, sad, realise that it's OK to feel these emotions and log on here, to vent, or phone a friend, or go for a walk, have a nice bubble bath. All of those things will make you feel better than food, in the long run
Well done, Rodgers 37. The first week is always a bigger loss than later weeks. I prefer to lose very gradually, it all mounts up over time and although it takes longer, you get used to the healthy food and don't put it all beck on again after.
It's good to recognise what leads you to over eat / comfort eat and that is all part of the journey too rodgers37 . Hope that things improve for you this week. My husband has social anxiety and is managing to access quite a lot of support locally which is really helping him (he's been out today doing a mindfulness course). I spent 3.45 hours working in the garden yesterday and I was totally distracted and have to admit I didn't think about food once! I was starving when I got back inside though!
Hello there Rodgers37, I know what you are up against, sounds like you are doing well and a great plan is to divert and do something else, a nice walk, a cuppa tea or phone a friend/the group forum.
You’re doing so well rodgers37 . If you feel like comfort eating try coming on the forum...you don’t always have to join in if you don’t feel like it.....but just have a read. I’ve found this distracts & encourages me. There are such helpful posts here & so many helpful friends 🌼
Thankyou, as always, for hosting Pineapple27. I am impressed with your greenhouse - Mine is a tip in comparison. I sometimes wonder how I get in through the door. But it does sterling work and is presently housing lots of tiny seedlings trying to sprout their first true leaves.
I want to spend the week down the allotment but I have indoors work to do, too. As the weather is forecast wet for me, I expect I shall end up doing the latter before the former. But it was lovely and sunny down there this morning.
Last week I weighed 67.6k
this week I weigh 67.1k,
that's a loss of 0.5k.
I am pleased with this which is higher than my average weekly loss, especially as I have reached one of my minigoals of losing 4k.
I was going to say I had reached two of my minigoals: that of reaching a healthy BMI. The BMI calculator on this [NHS] site says 67.1 is a healthy BMI for my figures, but inconsistently announces underneath that, that I am overweight still.
Maybe it's just as well I do not get too complacent, with April fool's Day, my Wedding Anniversary and Easter all coming in one Day next Sunday. I am going to have to watch when I go back to chocolate after Lent.
If you feed my figures of age 66, female, 67.1 k and 163.5cm tall, good exercise levels, it comes out with a display that says a healthy BMI is 48.? to 67.1 is the healthy bmi range, but is accompanied by a byline that says I am overweight at 67.1.
Just a quirk, I suppose, something rounding one way, and another rounding the other. Nothing to worry about.
Hi George56 - hang on in there. You are always so supportive to others on the Forum, you really are a star!
Sorry to hear you've been stuck inside. Do hope that the new treatment for the leg starts to work well and that you get to venture out a bit this week...
Another lovely post George56 ...you are such a great support to so many of us here on the forum. I hope the new gel works wonders for your leg & you can get out and about....that always seems to make you feel better 🌼
Such a shame being housebound; it must be so difficult to keep actively mooching instead of just mooching around. I'm grateful to have no option but to tend to the needs of two hungry four-legged friends, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have your determination otherwise.
Hello everyone & thanks for hosting again Pineapple27 .....I absolutely love your photo. Here’s to plenty of sunny days in the garden .... I can feel the warmth coming from your greenhouse!
Last week I weighed 11st 10lb
This morning I weighed 11st 7lb
A loss of 3lb
How has that happened?
Obviously I’m pleased for such a great loss but I think I’ve been over compensating (and not eating much) because Easter is so close. I have to admit that I find Easter harder to cope with than Christmas because there is soooooo much chocolate around....my biggest weakness 😱.
I still can’t quite believe that I’ve lost so much weight & I always feel on the brink of putting it all back on!! Does anyone else feel like that or is it just me? 🤦🏼♀️
Thanks moreless ... I think I’ve got to build my confidence up! I’m aiming to lose 2lbs to make me officially overweight and not obese. That will mean so much to me🌼
Just coming back Alideer - looking at your profile of what you hoped to achieve when you started here - you've managed to hit your target early! You must be very proud of yourself...!!
Thanks Pineapple27 .... I think I needed reminding of that! I was at absolute rock bottom when I started here last July & this forum has turned my life around. I sound like such a drama queen but it’s true. I still need to lose another stone and a half before I reach 60 in July but it feels doable now. I would still be officially overweight but I think I would be happy at that point. Thanks for all your support 🌼
Alideer My aim was always to get to 9 stone from the 14 stone I started at. I got to 9st 3lbs, then piled some back on (went back up at my highest to 11st 5lbs (!) and for the past year have lingered somewhere between 9st 10lbs and 10st / 10st 7lbs at the heaviest. I'm quite happy at this weight, but aware that every 7lb on someone as short as myself isn't doing me any favours, especially with my disability / dodgy hips, degenerating lower spine....
The past 2/3 months I have been concentrating on being more active / mobile and incorporating strength training / stretches / cardio. I like to think that being as fit as I can be at whatever weight I am is a good idea!
I'm pleased that the site has helped you turn things around! That's great!
Yes Pineapple27 that’s a way of looking at this weight issue that hadn’t occurred to me. When I started here at 14st 4lb it was because I knew I had to do “something” & now I’ve lost some weight I should concentrate on becoming fitter & stronger. Thanks for the inspiration 🌼
I can understand your fear, some mornings I expect to get up unable again to see my feet when I look down. It's having this forum to turn to that keeps me going even though I don't post a lot - and the efforts of my husband to keep my spirits up during periods of slow progress (read this as times of NO progress). You are not alone.
Thanks Overweightrider . You do understand how I feel.....one of the many joys of this forum is that people are so kind.....usually just when we need it too! Hope your progress picks up....although my weight is moving at the moment it has been very slow and steady. We just have to stick at it. Have a good week ahead 🌼
Today I'm the same except that the loose skin just above my waist is getting less!!! I did have an extra pair of droopy bags of skin but today I was surprised to see a firmer looking waist area - progress.
My plan for the coming week is to continue trying to stay within my 1300-1450 calorie range as much as possible. It has been difficult over the past two weeks as I kept getting light headed, but now feel much better and looking to get that 'empty' abdomen feeling again.
Loose skin around thw stomach area is a nightmare, my plan is to lose weight, thwn look into surgery as unfortunately no amount of dieting is going to get rid of mine. Well done on yours getting less
I hadn't even thought of loose skin when I started my weight loss hope, it was rather daunting at Christmas when I first really noticed it!! However, pilates weekly and daily care of my horses during these awful months of wet and cold weather seems to be doing the trick. But it's been three months, so not a quick fix. Surgery fills me with dread as I'm not likely to go that route. Anyway, another 3" to go off my waist and hopefully the same off my hips as they make me look like I have a tyre around me - my hips haven't reduced at the same rate as my waist which I can't understand.
My favourite programme is on now - supervet - and my husband is washing up to leave me in peace. Bye.
Enjoy Supervet Overweightrider - Pilates is a great exercise for toning and strengthening!
I had a boob reduction and tummy tuck when I'd lost 3st, but mine for for practical reasons rather than vanity. I had been left with a skin apron that hung right down from my weight loss, and my short arms meant that I was unable to lift this and keep the area underneath clean and dry.
I arranged and paid for it privately.... but it was MAJOR surgery and it takes a long time to recover. The abdominal binding is uncomfortable (I had it done in December, so heat and itching weren't too much of an issue).
My healing was straight forward and I am very pleased with the result.
I had been doing a lot of exercise (5-6 times a week.... about 1-2 hours a day) so my surgeon was really pleased with my muscle tone underneath the lose skin and I had an excellent result with a nice flat tummy.
Before my boobs were 40FF but just empty spaniel ears. Afterwards they were 38DD and much more in proportion with the rest of me.
4lbs altogether over 4 weeks. I didn't weigh in last 2 weeks so 3lb is over the 3 weeks.
The weight is coming off slower than i would like but at least it is going down. I am still using a calorie counter and recording everything i eat which i think is helping, plus i have gone back to my work placement which is 12.5 hour shifts, most of which i am on my feet so that is helping with the exercise bit.
That is a good rate of loss, pretty perfect in fact Portfield4 ! It took me 130 weeks to lose 4.5 stone, so on average that worked out at less than half a pound a week. All those little losses (and a few gains...) add up!
