Hello well I’m actually here, I’m 53 with a spinal condition which limits my exercise and since diagnosed have gained nearly two stone. I desperately need to sort my weight out, so here I am. I am a comfort eater and my downfall is snacking. I’m hoping to find useful information as to the right foods to choose and new ideas. Looking forward to meeting you all

Hello I’m new here
Hi and welcome to the community!!
hello Karrieann and welcome! good luck here as it is a terrific forum to be a part of. i have lost 11 pounds in 4 weeks so this is the new way of eating for me. i do not call it a diet as i had to find a new way of eating to stop the madness!!! anyway, i did eat a lot for comfort and for boredom and snacked a whole lot. what i did was find something else to do. i understand having pain to keep you from exercising. it keeps me from doing much too as i have terrible arthritus in my knee and my ankles so walking is very hard for me. i try to do some upper body exercises to make my shoulders and arms stronger. there may be something you can do too, just be careful not to hurt yourself. i now snack on air popped popcorn or carrots but that does get boring sometimes so i will have a cookie too. i really think of this as a new way of living so that gives me the ability to have one cookie if i really want one. anyway, all the luck darlin. and let us know how it goes!
I would ask your doctor what you. Can. Do as far as exercise. Than I would start eating healthy, find healthy snacks learn new ways on cooking. There so many things you can do but take it one step at a time don’t get overwhelmed. The internet has so many ways to eat excise, cooking. It a whole world out there. Start to journal your eating, moods what you want to look back at it. It will help you learn about your self and what you can change when needed. You can see how far you have come on bad days we all have them. I will you encouragements in tough times. It’s all hard but worth it. The longer you are changing the easier it will get. Have fun and it will work out for you if you want it.

HI Karrieann amd welcome, sorry you have a bad back, it's easy to let the weight creep on, I lost almost a stone in the spring but developed a bad back in the summer and have gained a good wedge of that weight back, now trying to halt the gain and hopefully start to lose again soon! Good luck 😀
Hi there and welcome. This really is a great place. Have a good read of the information on here. My key piece of advice is to get involved on here as it really helps to keep your accountability levels up! Good luck with it. James
Hi welcome
Great to see you on here
Take things slowly, change foods replace with good wholesome. Look at the snacks you tend to have see what initial changes you can make.
I am a comfort emotional eater too the same age, so like me you know what you should and shouldn't be having but if you can try to look forward more positive chat to us when you can there is loads of great advice and lots of lovely people on here as and keep to a healthier lyfestyle and you will do it
Good Luck
Hi Karen. You've come to the right place. There are lots of members on here who for various reasons have limited activity. Weight control is about 80% what we eat, 20% our exercise. If you use an online BMI checker for your age, height, size and low activity level it will give you an idea of how many calories your body needs. Good luck, it can be done😆
