Hi all, I'm excited to be picking up again after a year or two off plan. Since I was last here I've gained more weight and need to get some support. I've been given a weight watcher's refferal from my gp but to be honest I feel I'd rather simply calorie count and cut the junk out than learn another diet system as I used to be a slimming world girl but apparently the NHS don't do refrrals there anymore. Does anyone have any experience of weight watchers please?

Hi Hidden and welcome back to the forum, things have changed a wee bit since you were last here sorry I have no knowledge of Weight Watchers
I would like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out, or re-starting.
If you just post a few words on the November Newbie Club thread to introduce yourself and respond to others there you will soon feel part of the club.
Follow this link to the Newbie club: healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Please read all the information carefully, it is very useful and can be referred to whenever you want to check something.
It just remains for me to wish you well on your journey
Thank you Cracker10.
I have no personal experience of WW , nor of SW, but I do have good experience of calorie counting and it works : it is flexible and it is a method that then follows naturally through to maintenance (same process, just more calories) . Also you can,if you wish, convert some of your exercise calories into extra food calories which I'm not sure you can do with WW points or SW Syns 😆
For many the NHS 12 week plan is a good place to start , but I also like "myfitnesspal" as my calorie counter and food diary.
Welcome aboard, you'll find this site is as good or better than any club, lots of opportunity to learn and very supportive.
I'm going to stick with calorie counting elliebath and healthy choices, cutting sugar and gluten. I just can't be doing with another new way of counting, I've got the NHS 12 week stuff and calorie guides and will check in here too. Thank you
