I've been very weak this holiday season, and now that it's over and I've had my obligatory shocking weigh in, I feel like I should move on and make this year a better one.
I won't even go into detail this time about what a pig I have been because I'm hoping that's the old me and I don't need to admit his sins!
I went shopping just now still suffering from my overindulgence last night so I was able to make some healthy choices before the old me had a chance to wake up and sway me towards the baked goods. I have a cupboard full of soup, a loaf of wholemeal bread, bananas and some sugar free cereal to see me through the day and hopefully tomorrow. Even if I want more, I spent all my money!
When my wages come in next week I intend to sort out a gym membership and force myself to go along at least 3 times a week. I will probably start off slow because of how unfit I am and do half an hour then work my way up to getting fitter over time.
So, deep breath.... 24 stone 6 pounds. Not gaining a single pound more!!!!
Good luck to everyone this year!!!

Thank you Jay86, it's going to be a fab year for us all in terms of health and fitness, a year of great personal achievements that nobody expected us to get to! I have an ambitious objective, which goes beyond loosing the 5 extra stones I carry, I plan to get good at Pole dancing! I had a trial lesson a couple of weeks ago, and I almost died of pain from the aches that I had for three days, and I had not even got up the bloody thing!! Seriously, the hardest physical challenge I had to endure in the past 18 months ( during which I have learned Krav Maga, mixed martial arts, loads of endurance and strength classes at the gym, jogging, commute to and from work on foot daily for almost 7 miles...). So, as I like my challenges, I decided I just have to learn this beautiful art, although there is no way that I won't loose weight and change my shape dramatically if I get good on the pole...for me, this is a happier way to handle my objective to achieve health and balance in my life then say 'loose weight'.
So good luck to you and keep us posted on progress!!
The holiday season is notoriously challenging, and most of us in the Monday group weigh-in gained weight this week, but thankfully, the overall weight loss for 2015 was really significant. So it's the overall perspective that counts.
2016 is a New Year, and you are sounding positive and determined to not gain a single pound more, and I believe you!
If you fancy the idea of a group weigh-in, then please think about joining us for the Monday group weigh-in - I post it just before 7am on Mondays, and we'll be there on 4th January.
I know group weigh-ins aren't everyone's cup of tea, so will understand if you prefer to do something else, but I just wanted to welcome you to the site and let you know about the weigh-in, incase it was something you might enjoy being part of. The NHS 12 week plan is really good - as it offers structure and good advice.
Wishing you all the best for 2016, and hope to see you around and about in the forum.
My post xmas weigh-in was pretty awful too but onwards and downwards
How about committing yourself to a 20 - 30 minute walk everyday from now until you can sort out the gym membership, this will certainly help when you join the gym too.
