Just stumbled across this as desperate to lose weight. I have been overweight most of my life but it is now life limiting on top of all my health problems. I have also just started a course with nhs called winning by losing and just wonder if anyone else tried. Also need to try and get my head into gear

Hi Emer73 and welcome to the weight loss forum.
Good luck with your course winning by losing. A lot of the members here follow the nhs 12 week plan but we do have other members on different healthy eating plans too.
You are invited to join our Newbie Club, where you can meet other new members who are just beginning their weigh loss journeys too. Here's the link for all the information you will need to find your way around the forum:

Good luck with your first week.
Welcome Emer73. This is a great friendly forum lots of advice. My advice would be to set small goals and make this a way of life not a diet. I tried every diet going before I joined. I would loose weight then after a few months things would plateau and I’d gain again.
I joined this forum in Feb and so far lost a stone.
And kept it off which has been amazing.
Good luck, ask questions, get involved it all really helps.
Good evening Emer, glad you found the forum lots of support here.
I was referred by GP to weight for it classes. I personally found it useful, in my area alot dropped out a real shame. My advice is stick with and make the most of it.
Wishing you success on your weight lose journey.
You are welcome here and you will get plenty of support
well I just not getting my brain into gear to this 2000 calorie diet I know I need to but constantly feel hungry in the evenings. This is getting me really down as terrified I will die if I do not change. I am basically carrying my Husband who is also overweight in excess of what I should be according to NHS and the winning by losing group so they want me to lose around 17 stone. Feeling so hopeless and fed up
