depressed on Slimming World

Hey y’all, I’ve been doing Slimming World for over a year now, and lost a stone in weight that stays off but another stone that I take off and then goes back on. I feel really depressed and deprived with it. I got down from 21 stone to 14 stone by myself through diet and exercise but then had a hysterectomy and gained two stone back. I made the decision to start SW as my Mum had been very successful with it but given up when she kept gaining weight despite following plan. I decided we should BOTH go back but really I did it for her as I could bear to see her slide back into the overweight person she had been before. I have difficulty being active because of a chronic illness so really rely on diet to keep my weight down. I gain it so easily since starting SW before if I ate bad I’d gain maybe a pound a month now it’s more like a stone in two weeks. Has anyone else experienced this with SW? I honestly feel the whole thing is a con...

I found slimming world strange. I don't eat red meat and the 'unlimited' pasta and rice I was eating made me feel bloated. It worked out a very expensive way to loose very little weight.

I think the only way weightloss works is to cook fresh, less dairy and heavy carbs. Good luck

Hello and welcome Christabel1178

I can sympathise as I had a hysterectomy last year and weight loss is even more difficult since. I’m afraid I don’t have any experience of SW but for me, portion control is the only thing that works. I am not very good at having anynfood “unlimited” or anything else “banned” , but we are all different and I do know many people have success with this.

Have a good look around the site, and please ask if you have any questions.

Ps just to add that the links Hidden has shared are well worth reading, after the menopause carbohydrates become especially problematic, and reducing/limiting them is really important

Good luck Christabel1178
