I originally lost nearly 4 stone, 5 years ago and kept it off till I started hip pain again.
I'm due replacement in two weeks, so want to try again to move the excess.
Feeling a little despondent,re weights the present time. Also find today I have lost an inch in height.. ๐ค๐ฆ

Hi and welcome
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI (can be found in the pinned Newbie post) to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ๐
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ๐
To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support - which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's and our โWhat's happening todayโ thread, where we pop in for a chat.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ๐
Wishing you all the best on your weight loss journey
Thank you again. I have just downloaded the app. Then re- reading your e-mail may continue to use the website page to get used to your site. I have already had replies to my first post and hope to be able to join in your community.
I've joined the nhs weight loss but also use my fitness pal which I have always found beneficial . I'm determined so with encouragement should be able to succeed again. Cheers
I often come onto the site, but being new I'm not sure if I'm doing things right. I'm going off now, but later today going to try and have a good look to find my way around properly. Thanks and any advise would help to keep things right.
There's nothing wrong with being shorter I'm only 4ft 9" and all the best things come in small parcels they say!
Sorry to hear about the hip pain. There have been a few posts in recent days from different folks saying they need to lose weight ahead of hip replacement. Others who, like me, are experiencing hip pain which is being investigated. It looks as though mine may be neurological and my sciatic nerve being compromised by de-generation of my lower spine. I've had MRI scans and will get the results in November.
I started my weight loss journey at the end of February 2012, and managed to lose 4.5 stone in 2 and a half years through calorie counting and logging/weighing all of my food.
Then re-gained some, lost some again and have now managed to more or less maintain for the past 6 months.
BUT... ideally I would love to drop another stone and maintain there.
Oh - and no doubt, whatsoever that losing weight will give your new hip the very best chance of being a huge success!
Welcome Rose-of-pride25 sorry you are feeling down. It sounds like you have a lot going on at the moment and that can get on top of us ๐ This though actually a really positive step forward good luck ๐
Thank you, I do have osteopenia, which I am told is the start of osteoporosis , but not unduly concerned, as when I had knee replacements five years ago, I was down to 5'4 ins , then went back up to 5'5 '' .so sure the hospital try to ol me. Ha ha.
I was originally 5'7" all my life, hence me stating my height now, I suppose I find that bizarre , but en I know most people loose height with age.
I am hoping when I am walking straight and tall I can remedy.
Here I am day 15 post op. I'm feeling great, walking tall and recovering superbly. With help of family and friends I am getting out a little and yesterday I had clips out and that too I'm told will make a difference.
Throughout ,pre and post op. I kept up my eating plan and a little bit yo- Young, think due to immobility and some stress, but on the downward move again, so ever hopeful that I will manage to keep my weight down and give this new hip every chance to move and stay moved for many years to come.
I've been watching om the site and you are all so inspirational.thanks
