This is my first time here and I'm here because I have to lose weight to ease spinal and knee injuries.
My weight has gone on due to not being able to exercise without pain, having little time to myself ( I care for my parents as well as holding down a full-time job and trying to keep up with my own home).
I feel lethargic and drained most evenings and would like some suggestions for weight loss and energy boosting tips.

I found that going low carb, reduced inflammation in my joints and therefore the pain and helped me feel more energised. Have a look at this and see if it's something that would suit you phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

I also gained (even more) weight due to inactivity as a result of chronic arthritis, and although it’s hard, just 10-15 minutes exercise a couple of times a day really boosts your energy levels. I also find if I’ve exercised I don’t want to blow it by eating rubbish. 😊. I walk (with sticks) swim, have an exercise bike, do yoga and also some strength work with light weights, only for 15-20 minutes. I try to do this at least once a day. I recommend the exercise challenges for motivation too (see Pinned Posts for details)
The type of food you eat also impacts your energy levels, as a menopausal woman I avoid any carbohydrates and sugar after lunch as these make me sleepy and exacerbate the hot flushes.
Have a good read of all the information Moreless has provided and please ask if you have any questions
Best wishes
Indigo 😊
Hi Smiler, I'm another one who has limited mobility and have gone low carb. I was amazed it worked after trying other diets.
I started on 100g carbs a day, the n down to 85 when I'd got used to it. It is great doing a diet where I don't feel hungry.
A couple of tips - find a breakfast that suits you, if you can't eat eggs first thing make sure you don't opt for bread or cereals instead.
If you struggle to cook (time or pain) buy ready prepped veg and salads. I always buy chopped onion, and instead of trying to stand to fry it I stick it in a slow cooker or in the oven under the meat/fish/chicken.
Treats include raspberries with double cream, a cube of cheese, or one or two squares of 85% lindt chocolate.
I was in a similar situation to you - work, carer, arthritis diabetes etc. I did every diet and over the years must have lost many stones only to put them back on and a few extra. I was a swimmer but developed chronic cellulitis so wasn't able to continue.
I couldn't get in the mindset to lose weight.
BUT I developed respiratory failure and was extremely poorly. I don't suggest you copy that one tho.
I was more than 10 st overweight.
I am using the low carb high fat diet using the diabetes programme. To date I've lost 6st 8lb. I have to plan thoroughly or I'm lost. I make little jellies so I can have something sweet. Learning whats low carb is fairly easy & I ve also found intermittent fasting helpful as it means I know when I stop eating.
I use the diabetes & lung forums for advice, support, ideas and tips. I'm new to this forum and mainly watch what's going on!
Any woman can achieve anything she wants so as you've decided nows the time then go for it xx
