Hi all, just printed off week 1 food/ activity chart. I thought I'd start on Monday, but decided there is no time like the present. Common story- I put on weight after having my babies and can't seem to shift it. I'm now looking to get down from 13 stone to a healthy ten. I've been trying the 16/8 diet, cutting out carbs almost entirely, but after a month I'm seeing no weight loss whatsoever. Plus I'm permanently constipated! After reading the NHS plan, if seems that carb cutting is not such a good idea after all. My OH is no support at all, so I'll probably be on here a fair bit looking for encouragement from you lovely people. Hopefully, I can do the same for others. x

Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum Biker_chick 😊

You have made a good start with the 16/8 idea and also reducing carbs. I did lose weight on a low carb diet but put it all back on again, not an unusual story. 😕 The key seems to be making changes that you can stick with permanently, and eating enough to still lose fat but not so little that it's unsustainable 😊 For the record I've only just lost my 'baby fat' and my youngest is 22!!

Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask ☺

Best wishes

Anna

I'm on day one too so we can support each other! I've found that my weight increased (a lot more than the previous baby weight!) after my third baby nearly two yrs ago. I had to have a hysterectomy shortly after that so all in all I was off my feet for around 3months in total (except for essential mummy duties of course!)

I have a lot more Weight to lose than u but hopefully we can support each other? What age are your kids? I've 4,6 and almost 2yr old. X

Hi mcc13. My youngest is 15. I managed to get back to my pre-baby weight while I was breast feeding, but as soon as that stopped my weight just started to creep up. It seems to have accelerated over this past year, probably to do with the menopause (I'm 55). I've always been fed up about the weight gain, but this week was the first time that it actually reduced me to tears. I'm determined to get back to my old self, but I have no doubt that it will be hard work. I'm here to offer encouragement and praise, and hopefully gain some inspiration from other dieters, such as yourself. Good luck. Here's to a new us! :)

The mental-pause undoubtedly makes things difficult, but it can be done 😊 And it's even more important to eat properly, carbohydrates in particular can cause hormonal problems 😕

Have a good look around and ask if you have any questions 😊

here's to that indeed! I may have to quiz you about the menopause too as that will no doubt be coming my way soon (have ovaries remaining but apparently they only last around 5yrs...🙈)

I had a reply from someone here earlier suggesting to try some dance moves. That's exactly what I've just done (window blinds closed and kids in bed, hubby out, obviously!) 13 mins and I was puffed. but sooo glad I done it even if I didn't get one step right (Zumba) I was definitely moving! Us women have to put up with a lot don't we, these kids and weight gain and menopause. Men do have an easier time of it!

anyway hope your first day has been a success. I'm still under calorie count for today too so im delighted 😀😘

I think I need that to keep me focussed and on track, thank you mannikaur. Today, Ive eaten around 840Cals. I will have a light supper, although it will be a bit late (I'm suppose to stop eating by 8:00pm (following the 16/8 diet). As it's the weekend, I'll probably have a cheeky glass of wine too.
