Hi

I am 56 years old and I am a receptionist, my job involves sitting down for the most of the day and I tend to excercise about 4 times a week for about 30 mins a day, I would like to loose about half a stone. My diet is good and i am really struggling to loose those pounds, can anyone please help

Hi Loraine, I have breakfast which is either cornflakes or muslie, for lunch I have a sandwich or salad with light dressing, a bag of french fries and a meal in the evening

Hi anitakohli , I also have a very sedate job so feel for you. Sounds like your food is good, I have found that as I get older I need to really control my portions or my weight inches up. As you only have a few pounds to lose maybe you could just try doing a bit more exercise. If you can try and do a little something every day to counteract all the sitting. Can you go for a walk in your lunch break? Am sure you'll have it cracked in next to no time

Make sure to look at how many calories you should be having in a day on the NHS bmi calculator and then also start counting how many calories you do have in a day. You can always use MyFitnessPal to add calories up or similar or even write them down as many others do so they can do this as MyFitnessPal is a free one to use and is really easy. I wouldn't worry about following what the likes of Mfp says to eat calorie wise to lose weight because it only gives you average amounts that is the same for everyone. With bmi calculator it gives you your own personal calories for each person which is also why it is better to follow for how much to eat, it also includes any exercise into it where the others don't.

If you don't actually eat enough your body starts to think you are starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat instead as when I first joined I was only eating around 1000cals a day and this was what my body was doing. I found this out on here and altered things, started to eat enough and then started to lose weight. Not eating enough stops you from losing weight and sometimes means you put weight on because the body fat weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it causes the problems. I have now lost 2st and become a lot firmer too.

Not what you're looking for?
